3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 RAYBOY01 (2005) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 4, 2005
Absolutely gorgeous looking: deep sparkling red with fluffy cascading head, and neverending beading. Spritzy mouthfeel and champagne like texture. Wonderful sour cherry and grassy flavors, with a moderate yeastiness. Sour, but not overpoweringly so.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 lachesis (758) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - AUG 31, 2005
Very nice warm reddish color and big fluffy intens pink head. Aroma has very delicate cherry accents and refreshing herby hints of thyme, mint and sage. It also has touches of wet wood, cigare cases, barnyard, rubarbe and some frech vanilla. Taste is soft, round and smooth. The sharp accidic edges are well incorporated in this very distictive kriek. It has this thingling, refreshing carbonation that brings some extra crispyness in this great kriek.
At the Hopduvel in Ghent on a very hot day like today.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 22, 2005
Healthy red-amber hue with a medium, light pink, creamy head. Lots of cherries, oak, cream, vanilla, and hay with a subtle barnyard funk (if such a thing can be subtle). Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor. Moderately sweet, moderately acidic finish. Definitely one of the sweetest /real/ lamics I’ve had to date. Medium body, oily/slick texture, fizzy carbonation.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Savad (58) - Den Bosch, NETHERLANDS - AUG 20, 2005
Bottled in February 2005. Had it in May 2005. Reddish fizzy head, diminishing. Red, medium body. Dry texture. Delivers a spurt of cherry and wood in the aroma. Very lasting. Some wine hints. First, acetic and sour vinegar in flavor. Long finish with cherry skins and wood. Becomes increasingly sweet while drinking. The acidity and sourness disappear. Becomes too sweet! That’s a disadvantage. Perhaps I’ve had it too young. The aroma and appearance also point out that it’s not matured. Even though, other raters also mention that the beer is quite sweet.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Undefined (46) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - AUG 15, 2005
Good acidic tones, but the cherrytaste is a little bit in the background, a bit of tart and a quite nice finish, a good kriek, but it can always be better ;)
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JensenTaster (1718) - DENMARK - AUG 1, 2005
(o n bottle) Big bobbly pink head, light cherry colour. Sour , but almost sweet cherry kernel aroma. The carbonation is goos balanced, it´s a sweet pour, but not overwhelming. The finish picks up tart and fine; it´s like the mouthfeel goes up on the palate, in a refreshing way.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2005
A Mes rate:
I should really start by pointing out that this is one of my beers of choice so this may be just a little biased. It really is a fantastic bit of blending. Deep ruby red body and is surely the best looking kriek. Head tends to last well which is unusual for a lambic. Aroma is awesome. Creamy with a touch of cinnamon and slight antiseptic. That comforting smell from when you were young. Obvious cherry and a bit of barnyard funk but in the most pleasing way imaginable. Body is full and almost like syrup with just the right amount of carbonation that only seems to come through at the finish to add a really enjoyable kick. So far (I think) this is the only beer that I have given a 5 for palate. And the head is still there! It is reasonably gentle and refined for a lambic but a wonderful lick of the usual tartness comes through at the finish. Oh but before all that is a perfect cherry lambic with a good dose of strawberry cheesecake mixed in. Do you think I like this one? It really is very very good.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (22983) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2005
(Bottle 37,5 cl) Very dark red - close to black - decent, pinkisk head. The cherries are not so prominent in this, but they’re certainly detectable - especially because they’re not completely drowned by sourness. Even a slight hint of sweetness. A decent and drinkable classical Kriek. 100897
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cornfield (5277) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 5, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2005 There’s some funky cherry aromas coming from this ale. It comes across more like rhubarb with cherry pits and stones, the horseblanket and leather scents being there, too, along with an overlaying acidity. The flavor reflects the aroma, except that the cherries assert themselves more strongly. Sour finish.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2006 Bottle. Light cherry aroma evenly mixed with musty/moldy smell - smells like an old basement. Dark red color with small head. Sweet-sour cherry flavor with slight mustiness and yeast tone. A very nice traditional kriek.
