Red-brown color with small head. Sour-tart nose, cherries, just a little bit of sweetness. Taste is sour and cherries, very refreshing. Not too complex, but well-balanced. A nice Kriek!

Not the most amazing example of the style, but it is incredibly drinkable without being excessively sweet.

Sampled from a 75cl bottle with a cork. Cloudy red colour with a white (very slightly pink) head. Sour nose with a touch of vinegar (in the lambic style) and with a taste of cherries. Rather astringent, but with good balance. Good for drinking in the garden on a summer’s afternoon.

Bottle at home. Clear red with a small cream head. Aroma of sugary sweet cherries, cherry cake. Flavor is over moderate sweet and light acidic. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

At the hotel de la Plaza in Brussels with Kimberly and Taylor in the hotel room. Pours dark rose red with white layer of head. Aroma is medical gross nasty off flavors, I’m not sure if it is acetone, or pedio or idk. Some fruit comes through, but yuck. Taste is more gross off flavors, and maybe some cherries. Gross,

The ’oude kriek’ from Girardin, with medium off-white head (not too pinkish - usually revealing no cherry extracts have been used) and deep ruby red colour, hazy. Very fruity nose with obviously lots of cherries, seems sweetened a bit, sherry, sour cream, yoghurt, not as complex as their oude geuze. Taste has the same fruitiness, again making a sweetened and thus lightly compromized impression, lambic funkiness rather restrained, losing some of its complexity but still sufficiently sourish to stay authentic - though clearly not as authentic as the krieks from Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen or De Cam. Which makes this a good introduction to the style, I suppose.

Muddy pink. Not much head, but this is acceptable in this style. Fine and refreshing aroma of sour cherries and vinegar. Similarly fine taste and aftertaste, perhaps with a hint of raspberry bonbons. Well balanced with very high drinkability, but not very complex.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours almost clear pinkish with a small pink creamy head. Aroma of fresh light bitter cherries. Fresh and inviting. Taste is also fresh sour cherries, with prickeling carbonation and mouthfeel.Decent fruity pleasure.
