bottle@bar: burgundy/carmine coloured, strong brett & funk presence, minor tart/sour flavours, almost sweet, there is not that much kriek to be found there, although they are there & they are a bit of the canned cherry variety, wood, gluhwein, slightly acidic, nice

25cl Belgian bottle with a best before of March 11 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a murky, deep red body with a huge off-white/pink head with good staying power and lace. Aromas of huge red wine, tart cherries, vanilla, hay, oak, pie, light manure and funk). Flavors are sour, funk, pie, brett, cherry and earth. Not super acidic or acetic. Fennel, spicy oak, nice and drinkable. Lively bubbles, dry and funky. Very good, but I want a bit more acidity, Girardin funk is very nice and welcoming though.

Deep ruddy pour with a light pink lace on top. The aroma is very rustic and corky with a touch of soft funky leathery character. Soft phenolics and some musty corky character. Dry and slightly tart, but it doesn’t have a whole lot of complexity. An odd sort of minty character that adds a nice cooling feeling to the back of the palate. Kind of odd - a little bit old and oxidized at this point.

I was only planning to have one beer at the Kulminator, I ordered this first, than checked what Tim Webb had to say, oh no! A luke warm review, what a waste of a visit! Thankfully I differ from his opinion and think that this beer is lovely.

Big white-with-a-hint of-pink head on a deep pink-red beer. The aroma is a little too mild, sweet with a lot of cherry. The flavour is gentle, sweet, cherry flavour that appears natural at least to me, and restrained lambic sharpness in the background.

Brown reddish beer with a small head. Quite neutral sweet cherry aroma. Watery, sweet cherry flavour. Thin texture and no body. (corked bottle 37,5cl)

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2011 375 ml bottle shared by Rencelas- thanks, Jason! Pours a cloudy ruby color with a white head that has some pink tints. Aroma of cherries, herbs, oak, perfume, and mineral notes. Flavor of cherries, oak, floral and herbal notes, and a bit of soap. Light-medium bodied, with crisp carbonation and a fruity, floral mouthfeel. Dry finish. Very interesting beer. The cherries don’t pop quite like they should but this is pretty crisp and refreshing overall.

Bottle: Very nice vast frotty candy sugar light rose to white head on top of an almost clear rose red colored beer. Smell yeast, piss, wood, hint of some cherries, herbs and tea and a light sour and sweet touch. Taste yeast, yoghurt, sour, champagne, wood, light dry, malts, hints of sweets, sugars, cinnamon and spices. Medium to full body, low carbo, soft mouthfeel and a texture between watery and light oily with a good balanced sour yeasty aftertaste. The sourness in this lambic is not as sour as some others, guess you can compare it to the sourness from Dutch yoghurt.

Pours a clear red with a big white head. Head fades to just a thin head fast, but leaves lacing and a small white head for the duration of the drink. Sour cherries. Little bit of funkiness. Earthy and woody aroma. Slight acetic smell, but not much. Tart cherries. Lambic sourness cut with the carbonation. Even with the tang from the sour cherries it still has a bit of sweetness to it. None of the acetic taste from the aroma is present, thankfully. The sourness sticks around for just a bit. There is a slightly carbonation feeling that sticks around longer, weird. It makes it seem a bit drier after swallowing. Quite drinkable. Crisp, tart and refreshing. Very good example of a Kriek.
