Nose is cherry, lactose, a little wheat; very underwhelming. Taste is green apple leading to cherry; there are some suspiciously syrupy notes in the middle. It has some nice oaky tones, with citrus in the finish. It’s nothing to write home about.

Tap @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen 15/7-14. Fruity with cherries, acidic, medium body with a watery texture. The finish is dry and acidic.

Tap at Taphouse. Slightly hazy deep ruby colour. The aroma has notes of sweet cherries, lemon zest and tannins. Tastes of sweet cherries, lemons and classic sour and bitter tannin lambic finish. High carbonation. Doesn?t have the sweet marzipan notes from the cherry pits, that I look for in a kriek. But still, it is much better than some other offerings.

PapaVillum (398) - Valby, DENMARK - JUN 30, 2014
37,5 cl, flaske, 5,0 % ABV, købt i Barley Wine i CPH, City, 30. juni 2014.

0,25 l bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Clear warm ruby colored body with a peach colored fingerthick head. Buttery cherries and marmelade on the nose. Fizzy cherries on the mouth with a mellow grapefruit bitterness. Thin and clean kriek. Pleasant.

375mL bottle at ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske, pours a cloudy pinkish ruby red with a medium pink / beige head. Aroma brings out artificially sweet cherries - not a whole lot else. Flavour is better than the nose, with sweetened cherries, very restrained funk, and some detergent. Not a complex kriek at all, but it’s certainly not offensive. A little off the mark for me, but still decent.

25 cl bottle. Enjoyed at room temperature straight from the bottle. Taste has loads of sour cherries, some funk, almonds and some earthy notes. Cherries and almonds on the nose.
