25 cl bottle. Enjoyed at room temperature straight from the bottle. Taste has loads of sour cherries, some funk, almonds and some earthy notes. Cherries and almonds on the nose.

37.5cl cork and cage bottle as ’Kriek Girardin 1882’, 5%. Undated, picked up 3 months ago in Belgium. Very deep ruby, highly sparkling, huge pillowy pink head leaves thick lacing. Aroma is sweet cherry, cherry lips sweets. Simple cherry aroma. Body is light, soft carbonation, a little foamy, a little tooth-coating. Taste is creamy cherry, earthy, sour citrus, dirty, lightly metallic. Taste is more complex and interesting than the aroma. Very decent.

Dark red colur with a small white head. Smells of sour cherries. Really lovely cherry flavour.

Wischylini (226) - Grimstad, NORWAY - JAN 1, 2016
Appearance Pours hazy pink, with lots of sediment and dregs, and a big white frothy head.
Aroma Weak aroma of stale cherries, minimal oak flavours, stale hops and cereals.
Taste Starts sweet, with a mildly sour and bitter finish.
Palate Full body, low carbonation
Overall Flavours, taste and mouthfeel are all off. Considering the generally high ratings, I might have gotten a faulty bottle, but as lambics are typically blended to achieve consistency, I find it unlikely.

Enormous thanks to Zvone. Shared with heavy. Poured a hazy red tinged with amber, the head being more on the white than pinkish side. Funky, slightly tasrt aroma, creamy, like cherry yoghurt (without being diacetylish). Very balanced, sweetish mild, soft cherry taste with enough tartness to balance and help the drinkability, without being too much for us. Again, very, very drinkable. Great job, Girardin!

December 11, 2015. Bottle.
Ruby red with a large pinkish white head. Aroma is sweet and light tart cheeries, almond, vanilla, sweet berry yoghurt. Taste is light to medium sweet, soft fruity tartness. Finish is sweet berries with some vanilla and almond, tart cherries, some lemon juice and yoghurt. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation
Not much complexity but good sweet and juicy lambic.

Sample at Örebro Öl & Whisky 2015. Light tart smell with some funk and cherries. Similar taste. Fairly light compared to the our sours I had this evening. Light tart and cherries in the background.

750ml bottle. Dark pink with firm readish head. Aroma is ripe sweet cherries. Mouthfeel is sweet, extremely cherry forward with loads of fruit sweetness. Finish is cherry fruity sweet, no funk what so ever, no lambic dryness, almost no sourness. Incredibly boring and a huge let down. Thank god that the price tag on this was not that heavy. Shame on you Girardin because the black label geuzue is simply world class.
