4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2005
A Mes rate:
I should really start by pointing out that this is one of my beers of choice so this may be just a little biased. It really is a fantastic bit of blending. Deep ruby red body and is surely the best looking kriek. Head tends to last well which is unusual for a lambic. Aroma is awesome. Creamy with a touch of cinnamon and slight antiseptic. That comforting smell from when you were young. Obvious cherry and a bit of barnyard funk but in the most pleasing way imaginable. Body is full and almost like syrup with just the right amount of carbonation that only seems to come through at the finish to add a really enjoyable kick. So far (I think) this is the only beer that I have given a 5 for palate. And the head is still there! It is reasonably gentle and refined for a lambic but a wonderful lick of the usual tartness comes through at the finish. Oh but before all that is a perfect cherry lambic with a good dose of strawberry cheesecake mixed in. Do you think I like this one? It really is very very good.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2009 Huge head with the most beautiful deep red color I’ve yet seen on a beer. Lactic, yogurt aroma with tons of cherries and moderate sourness, some funky blanket. Lovely balance in the mouth, with sweet cherry and sour, lactic acid, a bit of funk, almonds, almost vanilla ice creaminess. Perfectly smooth palate. Love it. A little less sweet and more sour and it would be perfect.

Vinous nose, red currant aromas. Dark ruba red color, spongy pink head. Soft cherry body, not so juice-like: more like wine, really. Slight sour end, tart. Medium to think body. Impeccable balance - that’s what makes this an outstanding beer.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 scraff (2120) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 4, 2004
Co-rated with Hopscotch. Cherry red of course, with a fluffy pinkish head. Aromas of cherry, oak, some citric fruit, and farm house animals. Wacky I know, but it was all good. Lots of oaky, cherry, spicy flavors with a nicy tangy dry tart earthy finish. Thanks for sharing Eric. Loved it!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 domtom (65) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - DEC 30, 2002
Nice chestnut-violet colour, very opaque with a nice foam. Interesting and complex aroma of cream and caramel. The flavour is very deep, bitter, peaty. The aftertaste is long with a nice bitterness. A beer with character.

Bottle: Poured a beautiful red colored beer with a huge head with excellent retention. Aroma is quite complex mix of lightly sweet cherries and some sourness. I was quite surprised by the balance between the cherries and the sourness as I drank this beer. Definitely a change from your juice/sugar added fruit lambic that are more commonly available to me. Wish I could drink some more of this wonderful drink.

This one works for me. Mild, a touch of sourness, a drop of sweetness, well balanced. And ofcourse..the cherries were there..!
