nolankowal (827), Dublin, Ohio, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle shared by sliffy. Ruby pour with a pink/white head. Aroma of sour, light menthol, tart cherry and wood. Flavors of sour/tart cherry, oak, dry malt, yeast and vinous fruits. Medium/light body, fruity/tart/woody with a dry woody finish.
Beer_2000 (1269), Kristiansand, Norway Sep 28, 2008 750 ml bottle. Almost clear, dark red body with a tiny head. Aroma is sweet and sour cherry. Flavor is nice balanced between sweet and sour, cherry fruity as well (of course). Nice, drinkable, refreshing but not outstanding. Like it a lot anyway. MrRomero (1896), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Sep 25, 2008 375ml bottle: poured reddish brown with a quickly dissipating pinkish head. Mild sour cherry aroma with yeast notes. Moderate sour taste with just a hint of sweetness and a full cherry flavor. Slightly watery finish but still quite nice. JK54B (385), Finland Sep 14, 2008 Hazy reddish colour. Nose not so good. A nice sherryish taste. pale pink head. Medium sourness also light sweetness. A bottle (1882) tasted at Pikkulintu. Nekronos (1949), Xalapa, Mexico Sep 13, 2008 It is a little confusing the subject. They have different Kirek biers and do not know what is the difference. It was good like a cherry pie. Had it at GBBF 2008. JK (2481), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Sep 13, 2008 I am far more impressed with this beer than the European drinkers. Dark cloudy red with suspended yeast, and a layer of foam that stays at nearly 1/2 inch more than 30 minutes after pouring into my Cantillon tumbler. Lambic aroma with sour cherry. More lambic flavor with yeast in the flavor, oak, and cherry. Some sugar, not much. Not as thick as Scharbekse, but thicker than some other krieks. Sour for sure, not Cantillon or Fontienen sour, but sour for sure. I did expect more sourness like Girardin Gueuze, but it doesn’t go so far. Purchased in Brugge, March 2007, Baccus Cornelius, with July 2006 stamped on the cap.
