3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask at Grote Dorst. Clear deep red pour with no head. Aroma is fruity, nice desserty cherry aroma, fresh cherry pie, light syrupy notes, very mild funk. Taste is sweet, juicy cherry flavor, not very tart at all. Closer to cherry juice, the lambic is quite subdued in this one. Palate is medium bodied. Nice, but would have enjoyed a bit more lambic character.

Bag in a box thanks to t0rin0, grabbed on Belgium in a Box. Pours low haze deep cherry red. No carbonation as expected. Nose is powerful cherry pie with pithy baked dark cherry, pie crust, cherry cobbler. Taste is clean but very simple, low acid, mild butter, cherry popsicle. Finishes clean, lightly acidic, no acetic, some lactic and a bit of dairy thickness. Nice summer fruit quencher style.

Beautiful deep red coloured. Pleasant natural cherry aroma. Good balance between sweetness and sourness in the flavour. Notes of grapefruit and almonds. Very refreshing and nice.

Gravity at GBBF 2013. Pink in colour, quite low carbonation. Sweet cherry flavour. Nice well balanced kriek, cherry flavour strong and mixes well with the lambic. A little sweet I thought, especially at first sip, but maybe I prefer the complexity of the older lambics (the Indian thought it was pretty sour). Either way, very drinkable.

Now that the ball was rolling I switched over to a fruity lambic to refresh the palate. This was an interesting beer to try on draft. I would try to compare it to something else but with few data points it is challenging. All I can say is that everyone who comes to Belgium should try something like this at least once.
Aroma / Appearance - The flat blood red base does not sparkle like an older vintage. No residual head lasts more than a few minutes. Sweet cherry syrup is concentrated almost like smelling the inside of a mixture for Slush Puppies (or any other frozen sugary drink). A candy nature emerges around the edges.
Flavor / Palate - Bites of chewy cherry candy give this the taste and texture of a sweet shop. At times the syrupy nature shifts from enjoyable to cloying. With a few years of yeast this becomes a much better product. Even so it was great to try the "before" to get a sense of how much transformation takes place.

Draft @ Bierhuiske in Antwerp. Clear red color, no head. Aroma of sweet cherries together with some barnyard and horseblanket. Actually not that tart and a bit too sweet for my liking. Drinks very easily though.
