On tap, pours a hazy dark pinkish amber with only a few bubbles for a head. Aroma of subtle cherries, and some slight sweetness. Flavour of lightly sweetened cherries, a light vinegar quality, and a very small hint of cherry tartness. Quite still-bodied, with a pronounced cherry character and a touch of sweetness. Easily drinkable stuff -- great kriek.

1L clay jug shared by 3@Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst barbecue, Eizeringen during Tour de Geuze 2013. - Pours naturally flat from the jug, as it is lambiek, in a beautiful translucent bright red. For a "simple" lambiek I appreciate the dual taste complexity: mild cherry sourness and some mellow red fruit marmelade on the one hand, but an unusual and protruding over-mature hop perfume and pit bitterness on the other. I have never had a lambiek or geuze with such a tasty and potent mature hop profile, offsetting the usual sour&sweet in the taste. Mild and yet spectacular. Could have finished the jug by myself, will have to seek this out in some container or other for the coming summer.

Clear red colour, white head. Aroma of cherry, butter, yoghurt, marzipan and cherry pips. Light sweet flavour, light sour note, fruity cherry. Finish cherry and yoghurt.

On draft at the Grote Dorst. The pour is ruby red with a small white head. The nose is fresh cherries, multiple berries, smells like cherry juice. The taste is sweet but not overboard like a lot of cherry lambics. The balance is actual phenomenal. The mouthfeel is smooth, the body is heavy and the finish is long. I don’t know that I would go for this again, but I can see why it would be a staple in any blended fruit beer.

On tap at the Grote Dorst. It pours a dark ruby red with no head at all. Definite cherry aroma, even quite sweet. Strong semi-sweet cherry flavours, dry woody finish. Quite fizzy, medium body. Good kriekenlambik, but definitely lacking the complexity of a Kriek.

10 liter bag in box @ Ølkonsortiet. Pours a red color with a light pinkish foam, since it has no carbonation. The aroma is of cherries, almonds, slight tartness, sugar, some subtle funk of barnyard and hay. The flavor follows the aroma with lots of cherry and almonds, more tartness in the flavor, dust notes, and funk of barnyard and hay. The body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a really sessionable Lambic.

Bag-in-a-box. 5.0%. Pours a clear deep ruby, no head. Soft aroma, with cherry, wood and vanilla. Well-balanced. Flavour is tart to sour, with spicy cherry, wood and bread notes; again, well-balanced, but slightly cloying. Dry, bread finish with light cherry. Overall quite good; the cherry isn’t overdone, but is well-balanced, and the sourness is subdued, making it easy to drink. 17.11.12.

Girardin - sint ulriks kapelle kriek – Enjoyed at the 2012 Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. This is an unblended Lambiek direct from the brewery. Served in 2 ounce pours.

A - deep red like a Pinot noir. No haze or carb

S - cherry cheesecake. Noodles and rice. Graham crackers. Black cherries.

T - Oh hell yes. Cherry cheesecake!!! Whipped cream. Almonds. But very mud like finish. Barnyard funk and shoes

M - 20% carb. Slick and heavy body

O – 5/5 all the way. The delicious cherry cheesecake taste with a creamy finish was nice!
