The original brewed Lambic. Letting this beer age for 1, 2 or 3 years and mixing those for fresh Lambic makes a Gueuze. A Gueuze is also bottle conditioned which gives it carbonation. The Lambic however is complete flat without bubbles. Available only in draught form.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Girardin Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Girardin Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

Bag-in-a-box. Pours a clear golden with a small head. Sweet aroma with a somewhat soft sourness. Quite mild, but nice. Flavour is bitter and sour with slight notes of wood. Finish is a lingering dry bitterness with hops in the background. Overall quite mild for a lambic, but very drinkable. Nice. 01-05-09.

Catching up on beers from August. It was a fun trip, and I had a great time meeting all you Minnesota RBians. Thanks to Caleb for sharing this. Anyway, from notes, which read: "Amber, cherry, cheese -- nutty, totally like an aged Gouda. Tastes the same. Sweet, salty, cheesy. Slick, oily medium body. 3.3" Turns out my notes suck. This rating will stand until the next time somebody shows up with a 10L bag of lambic to share, and I can do this properly.

From Caleb’s bag. yes, this beer came from a bag. A little yeast in the aroma. Smells like an aged gouda, and tastes like a salty cheese as well. Dry, but probably the least sour lambic I have ever had. This is actually very disappointing. Caleb suggested they might not use the best available beer for the Belgium in a box sales.

Older 37,5cl bottle - on cork till 2012. Murky unfiltered haze dark gold. Beautiful airy head. Lactic tart, sour, old lemon, soft brett. Round full body, low carbonation, soft soft soft. Amazing aging process happened here, on a relatively small amount of time (4 years?).
