The original brewed Lambic. Letting this beer age for 1, 2 or 3 years and mixing those for fresh Lambic makes a Gueuze. A Gueuze is also bottle conditioned which gives it carbonation. The Lambic however is complete flat without bubbles. Available only in draught form.

Please note the age of the sample you are reviewing when entering your rating. While many factors determine whether you have had "Jonge" or "Oude" Lambik, a general rule of thumb is to enter 1 year-old or older lambik under "Girardin Oude Lambik" and anything less than 6 months-old under "Girardin Jonge Lambik".

For those between 6 and 12 months of age, you should take in to consideration the character of the lambik. Samples presenting themselves as hazy/cloudy, with some head-formation and residual sugar should be entered as "Jonge Lambik", while those that are drier, higher in clarity and with little/no head formation should be entered as "Oude Lambik".

10l Bagbox. No foam, no carbonation. Amber coloured. Incredibly both drinkable and complex in aroma and flavour. Apple juice, old white wine, woody notes, cheese in the nose. Plus much other stuff... Non as sour as I expected. Leaves the mouth clear to drink it again and again, so the 10 liters bagbox is the right packaging for this nectar! Lovely.

Tap@Taphouse, Copenhagen - pours gold with a white head. Fruity yeasty aroma and taste, light malty, lemony, bretty and sourness on the palate, acidic, dry finish.

Box lambic @ Bill’s 40th. Served slightly chilled. A bit hazy yellow appearance with a thin white head. Lightly funky, somewhat tart, lemon, dust, mild cheese. Kind of earthy and bland. Not on the same level as Girardin Black Label.

Aroma of apple, pear, grain, oak, dust, slight barnyard, light grain. Taste of apple juice, with an oaky vanilla touch to it, a big earthy and a bit hop bitterness still left, quite darker and mustier flavors quite complex, and suits better blended with a more refreshing citrusy lambic, big hop aftertaste with a flowery note. A bit oily which notes that this lambic probably isn’t very old - around 1.5 years i’d guess on average, also it still has clear hop bitterness and light head.

From box at the Barrel Cellar for Bills 40th. Thanks man!! Pour is clear golden with no head. Super funky, cheesy, urine, some biscuit, horse blanket, sweet tarts, and lemony aroma. Taste is cheesy, lemony, waxy, bready, urine, funky, and oaky with a lightly sour finish. Slick mouthfeel with no carboantion. Ok.

25cL Teku glass pour on draft at BierCab in BCN. Comes to me with a bit of head but it all dies down and we have a flat looking beer that is dar copper color and clear. Aroma is definitely lambic, very musty, some woody sweetness, barnyard Brett. Flavor is similarly not bright but musty and slightly sweet. Still has all the great lambic brettiness but without the lively, spritzy component. Mildest carbonation felt on the cheeks. Nice unblended lambic.
