COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hops are the predominant characteristic in this "Double IPA." Over twice the amount of hops are used in this beer as compared to our standard IPA. The hop flavor is citrus, floral, and undoubtedly strong, but still clean. The bitterness is intense but held in check with the malt and high alcohol. This is not a beer for the average beer drinker. Reddish-copper in color, this hop monster is a hop head’s delight.

A hazed amber double IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, smooth floral hops with some light citrus pulp, very restrained. In mouth, a smooth grassy floral hops, with loads notes, white grapefruits, very nice and sustained. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 9 2011.

Old rating... On tap at Bistro’s 10th Annual DIPA Festival. Pours clear copper, tan head. Big fresh pine cone and pine needle aroma, solid malt background. Good hoppy taste, but the bitterness is WAY to high and does a good job of totally killing the beer. Such a shame, because I really liked the hops/malt combo in this beer.

(tap) hazy golden honey colour, small white head; aroma of citrus; long bitter flavour, oily palate; pure hop joy

On cask at the brewery. Pours a shade darker than their IPA. Very similar, in general, but with an added note of brown sugar. More hearty and aggressive, but not as balanced as the standard. Decent.

Draft at brewpub. Dark dirty grayish golden with fluffy slightly off white head. Nice piney resinous nose with hints of honey and flowers. Kind of sweet and grassy up front with quite a bit of crystal malt throughout and finishes up with decent bitterness, but just kind of thin with not much hop characteristics coming out.

On tap @ the brewhouse. This seems more like a normal IPA. Copper color with red hues, thin white head. Light aroma of pine and malt. Taste is lightly bitter with a solid sweet malt backbone. This is a Malty DIPA. Resiny mouthfeel, that is nice. Overall not too bad, easy to drink, a little too sweet for style.

On tap @ the Brewhouse. Aroma of piney resinous hop with notes of flowers and citrus. Deep amber with a thick fully off white head. The taste was sweet malt blended with bitterness from the hops. Slightly syrupy, medium bodied, and average carbonation. This beer isn’t offensive just a bit too sweet.

Draft@ the Brew Pub. Clear copper color with a white head. Nice floral citrusy grassy hop aroma. Light/medium body. Huge piney and bitter grapefruit hop flavors riding a relatively thin, mildly sweet caramel base. Straight up hop fest here, not much malt essence to balance. A pretty harsh hop presence, even for my blasted palate.
