UPDATED: DEC 20, 2015 Seems to be different from the regular eisbock, which is 10% abv and not barrel aged. Draft at the source. Hazy dark brown color, small white edge head. Aroma of vanilla and whiskey. Taste is chocolate covered caramel bonbons. Best tasting beer of the night.

On tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood, pours a deep dark amber / brown with a small tan head. Aroma of lager yeast, some wood, treacle and sugar. Flavour is very sweet, with cloying candied sugar sweetness, some herbal notes, lager yeast and minor woody notes. Cloyingly sweet with lingering candied sugar notes. Okay, but too sweet for me.

Some very nice malt flavors are in thsi one. It comes out a bit unrefined but the oak helps it htough it is subtle.

Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a clear amber brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of caramel and toffee with a decent amount of oak. Flavor starts sweet with caramel but mellows to more of a toffee and bread finish with a hint of oak.

Aged in a Maker’s Mark barrel. Probably a different listing, but whatever, fuck it. Someone else can add it. Wonderful sweet nose of vanilla, bourbon, oak, brown sugar, chocolate, dark fruit. Really sweet, but really nice smelling. Pours brown with light red hues, thin head. Mostly hazy, opaque or whatever. Flavors of bourbon to start, brown bread, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, brown sugar, and light wood. Sweetness is balanced and rounded out. Not cloying at all. I am not a huge sweet beer fan but this worked wonderfully. Good shit here, no hint of 10%. Solid fucking stuff.
