Tasted at the 6th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/12/2011. This Imperial Stout pours a dark Black color from the tap. Small to medium sized white/tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, wood, coffee and dark fruit. A medium to light bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Very smooth tasting. Hint of dark fruit, vanilla, coconut and wood. Hide the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

On tap @ Glacier. Pours dark brown with a thin light tan head. Big aroma of chocolate, coconut, vanilla, coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is semi-sweet chocolate, light bitter roasted grain and some boozy vanilla. Full body with mild carbonation and a long, dry, oaky finish. This is a great Imperial Stout, the character of the wood really compliments this beer and adds a lot of aroma and flavor.

Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a good amount of dark grains and roast, with a good amount of oak and a bit of dark fruits. Flavor was full of roasted malts with dark grains and dark fruits. Just a hint of barrel came out in the finish.

On draft at the Bistro Barrel fest. It pours black with aromas of cocoa, coconut, wood and vanilla. The flavor has oak, chocolate, coconut and is rather sweet before a pleasant ashy finish. I really liked this one.

On tap at the Bistro -Bal Aged Fest. Dark clear brown in color with some tan swirls on top. Great aroma, complex and somewhat sweet with toffee, honey, and oak. Great flavor that is really dominated by the honey, in a very good way. Medium sweetness with toffee, chocolate, oak, and vanilla. Exceedingly smooth mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Could maybe use a bit more heft, but it’s overall very good.
