3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft: Poured a oily black with maroon red edges, the head was beige. Aroma was sweet bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla. Taste is very Jim Beam bourbon up front which personally I am not big on, but has nice chocolate sweetness that keeps it balanced along with vanilla.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the source. Very dark and clear marron brown color, thick tan head with good retention. Aroma of coffee grounds and cocoa powder. Taste is similar. Body seemed thin, but that could be because I drak the big barleywines and eisbocks first.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Glacier Brewhouse, Anchorage. Deep murky opaque garnet body, thin-medium tan head. Potent, inky nose with significant oak, bourbon, molasses, licorice, chocolate, and dark fruits. Body dominated by tannic oak and bourbon, with mild chocolate and coffee flavors that are mostly overwhelmed by the aging process. The base beer is too light to carry the oak, but I still enjoyed the beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted at the 5th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/13/2010. This sweet stout pours a medium to dark brown color from the tap. Medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, roasty malts, wood and bourbon. A medium to full bodied sweet stout. The malts are chocolate, roasty malts and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. The bourbon and wood flavors are subtle in this beer, they drift in and out of the flavor is a mostly subtle way. A nice example of the mild side of a barrel aged beer. Nicely balanced. Very smooth tasting. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Fest. The color here is more or less black, and the head is small, leaving some nice swirls on the beer though. The aroma is big-time Jim Beam bourbon along with oak, vanilla, and roast, On the flavor, the Jim Beam is a little too much for me. It tastes like...well...Jim Beam. Besides that there’s some sweet maltiness, roast, coffee, and vanilla, but too much Beam for my tastes. The mouthfeel is on the boozier side, and the body is medium. It’s a good beer, but if they had been a little lighter on the Jim Beam I would have enjoyed it more.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black color with tan foam. Nice dry wood, vanilla bourbon, dark roast aromas. medium bodied with a smooth nitro draft mouthfeel. Nice dry wood, vanilla coconut, roasty malt flavors, a bit too much bourbon in the finish for me- other than this a very good stout.

Sampled from the tap at 2010 FOBAB. Poured near black with opaque edges and yellow brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had dark grains with oak and some sweet notes including chocolate and coconut. Flavor had dark but sweet chocolate, coconut and bourbon with just a hint of underlying roast.
