Bottle. Pours a brown color with an persistent ivory head. Dark fruits and sweet malt in the aroma. An earthy smokiness kind of fills out the background of caramel and toffee. Tons of malt in this beer, I donít perceive any hops. Dry finish with a lingering, and somewhat astringent, candy aftertaste.

Typical Belgian Dubbel pour. A: spices, clove, Bock, prune, choco. T: doughy sweet taste, Bock. Development is like cherry cola, Bock. Aftertaste: typical yeasty Glazen Toren taste.

From the 750 ml. bottle. The pour is reddish-brown with a tan head that leaves lacing. The aroma is malty mainly with a cellar-like dankness, and dark fruit. Medium to full body. The taste is sweet and malty with maybe a touch of booze. It drinks a lot like a Quad rather than a Wee Heavy.

Pours a dark brow body with a thick beige head. Very nice sugary aroma. Nice malty taste even though it is a bit flat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Muddy brown color with caramel and milk chocolate. The mouth is slightly sour with milk chocolate and caramel. Very smooth warming butterscotch finish. Yummy.

Sampled from a 750 ml bottle from old notes. Pours a hazy caramel brown color with reddish highlights and a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel and toffee malts, dark fruits, cherry, figs, yeast, smooth, easy to drink, but definitely sweet.

750 ml bottle purchased at Bottles in R.I. Dirty brown/red color, thin lasting head. Aroma is a hearty dose of Belgian yeast with molasses, and mild spice. Flavor has nice roasted grain, scotch malts, with hints of subdued peat. The yeast really makes a nice addition to this style. The alcohol is totally masked... Wow this is a nice treat.

750ml opened with no problems...no gushing. Hazy to cloudy deep brown, beautiful looking brew complete with a 1 finger of off white foam and pretty lacing. Smells of candi sugar, pitted fruits, toasted malt that is almost smokie, booze. Toasted malt and fruits are up front, gets a bit sweet from the candi sugar, an inherent booziness in the taste(heck, itís called Winterscotch), finishes slightly bitter with more booze. The foam has subsided but itís still nice to look at. I see the abv is at 9.5% abv but to me, it drinks stronger and so I need to slow this session and review down a bit. Initial thoughts are that Iím going to score this on the low side as I have done with most beers of the style, which I am taking as Wee Heavy based on the name/label and how it is listed on the brewery website. Waiting and slowly sipping will perhaps bring out my palate familiarity and maybe something nice will happen to change my mind. Medium bodied in general, a tad too much carbonation for my palate, the mouthfeel is only okay. All right, I have given Canaster every chance I can to shine for me and it doesnít. Itís not a terrible brew, it just does not inspire me to think aboot buying another bottle. Oh well, it has itís fans and thatís cool.
