Tasted @ Zythos march 7th 2009.
Nice subtle sweetness accompanied by fine hop bitters. And a dryness that makes you drink steady on. A fine beer.

Draft. Pours amber with an off white head. Sweet malty aroma, with light maple, toast, and fruity apricot like notes. The flavor has sweet malts and toffee, light fruits, and toasted bread. Good stuff.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Drank at the 2007 Zythos fest.
One of my favourite beers on the day.
Dark mahogany red with a large creamy off white head.
Malts and liquorice combined to give it a rich wintery aroma, coal fire smell without the smoke feel.
Fairly dry, but something in there gives it a sweetish finish, which strangely gives way to a bitter after taste. This is a complexed beer and well worth finding, trying.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jefcon (1124) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - FEB 25, 2012
A great essence of raspberry is the first impression off this beer, but what follows is anything but fruity. Strong malts, the surge of warming alcohol and a dose of estery yeast make this as complex and supple a beer as the Belgians make. Tastes brave and creative, and the nutty, viscous and straw notes are really and truly unique.

Draft from the Thirsty Monk in Asheville. Pours cloudy chestnut with a light tan head, huge and creamy. Nose and taste of walnuts, vanilla, wood, mild chocolate, some apricots, caramel, and toffee. Lovely creamy, soft palate.
