75cl x 2 bottles. 8,3 %. Label helps to classify this as "Dobbel spéciale belge" and that would cover exactly what it is: double EU hop profile, pepper and grass, and double the amount of candy sugar, which can only partly be blamed to the female brewers. Fresh hop character nearly outbalanced by substantial amounts of raisin-like brown sugar, kept in check by wooden dryness. palate is less sticky than the traditional macro Dobbel Palm, yet I would enjoy this even more with 50% less sugar and maybe 1,5-2% less ABV.

Wenig säuerlicher, angenehm dunkel hefiger Antrunk. Vollmundig, leicht hopfig, etwas holzig. Dunkel malzig, süffig, frisch. Dann deutlicher nach Holznoten, wenig bitter. Gut. 11/11/11/11//11

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Lots of sweet fruits such as peach, raisin, orange, and apple. There’s a nice sweet brown sugar and caramel note, some yeast, and a touch of alcohol. Really nice maltiness to the flavor. Caramel and brown sugar with some syrup character. Lots of sweet fruit notes, some alcohol, and a light spice note.

Bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

And yet another rating from an old note that I found recently. Bottle wrapped in paper: Darker orange color with a small head. Smell is a fruit mix of spices and sweets. Taste is bitter with spices, malts and hops, yeast and grass. I wrote down that I really liked this one and gave it an 8. That would be a 4 on the Ratebeer scale, but a 4 and higher means they are really good and classy beers, so hence the 3.9 until I rate it again...

A clear red/brown colored beer, with a thick foamy off white head. The aroma of fruits, orange and a little apple. There is some hop and malt. The taste of fruits with malt, hop bitter and some spices. The aftertaste is sweet with spices and a little bitter.

Saw a 750ml of this on the shelf for $4.99 so I decided why not. Never heard of it before. There is no date or any kind of code anywhere on the bottle that I could find. Poured into a goblet, it is slightly hazy and medium reddish-brown. A white head with ok retention caps the beer and is not especially impressive. The aroma seemed quite oxidized at first with lots of wet cardboard/sherry notes. Underneath it is dark brown sugar and tofee along with dark fruit. Letting the beer warm really brings out some character. More sherry and brown sugar on the taste along with a healthy dose of raisins and plums. Mouthfeel is on the sticky side but just stops short of being too sweet. Alcohol is fairly well hidden and provides just a little bit of warming. Overall, I feel like this probably has some age on it as it tastes oxidized but it is really complimentary to the other flavors. Not sure I would pick it up again as this is not my favorite style but I’m glad I took the chance.
