3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Hazy dark orange with a foamy white head. Gentle red fruit flavors. High carbonation. Sugar plums. Orange pith. Somewhat sweet but also has a notable Brett kick. Bit heavy. Sweet fruity floral. Not bad. Not exceptional.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
75cl bottle shared with Gitte. Heavy gusher. cloudy brown, huge fluffy light brownish head. aroma of oranges, citrus, fruits, mild yeasty notes, aroma hints a sourish infection, but I’ll know when I taste it. Flavor is caramelly, malty, fruity, fruit peel, oranges, sourish, slightly citrussy and fruity. pretty weird wild thing. can’t determine if it is infected or just plain weird. Taste is very belgian.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The pour is a hazy, crimson color with a full, creamy, pillowy, off-white head which settles to a thin, pillowy, frothy layer and leaves some thick, scattered lace. The nose is sweet and rich; dark candi sugar, raisins and dates, molasses, dusty yeast, some toasted caramel, and light herbal notes. The flavor is very similar with a slight acidic coffee tinge, toasted caramel, molasses, dates, dusty yeast, slight cotton candi. The palate is lively, warming slightly, medium, creamy, and coating. The finish has a mild acidity, some faint roast notes but still the sugary, caramelly notes left on the tongue. A decent beer to drink, quite sweet and could use some time to develop some more complexity. Nothing really to distinguish this from other run-of-the-mill Belgians.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - 750ml. Hazy copper body with a thin off-white foamy head. Strong malty/hoppy aroma with fruity, flowery, and yeasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste is well balanced and relatively light. It carries fruity, vineous, and some subtle woody notes. Ends with a good bittersweet finish. Enjoyable.

75 cl bottle (8,3%) @ home. Bottled 24.02.2011, BBE 24.02.2013
The beer started to foam out of the bottle rather quickly – and does not stop foaming. Aroma has earthy notes with a feeling of bretta and hints of berries. Flavour is somewhat tart with earthy and oaky notes and hints of cherries. Palate is foamy and too high on CO2. Refreshing stuff and completely different than I expected.

Pours hazy orange color with a huge frothy head, some yeast particles floating around. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a gusher, the stuff just didn’t know when to stop coming out from the bottle. Aroma of rose hip, caramel, yeast, breatta, spice notes and some lemony fruits. Flavor of yeast, fruits, spices, herbal notes, rose hip and nettle. Sourish palate, dry tart finish. Better than I expected.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Purchased at Charles Street Liquors in January. Enjoyed in a wine goblet.
A - Nice clarity burgundy appearance. 2 finger head that faded fast.
S - Smells like burnt toast and grape juice. Hint of candied sugar and pickles.
T - Olives, beets, spices and maple syrup. Some very mellow peachy taste with hints of sweetness but nothing too overwhelming. At the finish, there’s this mild sour tartness.
M - 80% carbonation, medium body. Dry fruit bready at the finish with some sourness.
O - This is a very solid beer. It was pricey but is a nice 750 format and highly drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark rust. Persistent custardlike froth dots the glass with some lace. Exquisite aromas of black tea, anise, toasted bread, red currants, anise, date sugar, ripe plum, banana bread, rock candy, spice cake, flowery hops, etc. Secondary notes of gum, concord grape and puttylike yeast. Somewhat spicily phenolic, as well. Expansive, softly prickly carbonation. Airy and fiercely spicy with immediate clove warmth and alcohol. Immensely luscious, multilayered malt soon takes foothold as it offers up a deep spice cookie and plummy brightness along with fresh baked banana bread and an earthy breadcrust contrast. Considerable residuals from the candy sugar, though there is plenty of underlying gummy, yeasty luster and fruity esters to thwart any cola-like character from encroaching. Otherwise the sugar purely dazzles with malt-enhancing sweetness. High attenuation and exceptionally clean malt makes for endless quaffability. Telltale lilac-drenched Styrians add to the appetizing nature as they assertively deliver a lip-smacking wallop. Dried fruit twang imparts the faintest bit of flabbiness, but stops shy of overexertion thanks to the ongoing firm maltiness. Closes dryly malty, firmly cookielike and phenolic with an equilibrium of caramelized raisin and sassy clove accompanied by a tardy flourish of bright floral hop burps. Aside from the minor flabbiness, this is a quality dubbel all-around.
