Ondineke is a classic tripel, brewed in the ancient way, again with exclusive natural ingredients: artesian water, malt (barley), hops, yeast and liquid candy sugar. As in the Saison no spices are added. Ondineke is an unfiltered top fermenting beer. It is soft, creamy, and of golden color. It is double hopped with the last real hops available from the region of Aalst (The variety is Hallertau Mittelfrüh). Ondineke has a positive taste evolution and the bottles are best kept standing in a cool, dark place. It is best before two years after the bottling date. 8.5 % alc.vol. makes this a beer to be savoured. Preferably Ondineke is to be served at a temperature between 6 to 10° C. Moreover Ondineke is at its best when served in the originally designed Glazen Toren glass.

Bottle. Gold with a huge white head. High bead. Aroma of hay, oranges, glacé ginger, herbs, pepper. Mouthfeel is not as highly carbonated as it looks like it’s going to be and is quite creamy and soft. Very sweet with loads of candi sugar, peach, light oranges, vanilla. Subtle floral bitterness with some spices. Quite light bodied with just a breath of alcohol at the end to suggest its strength. Dries out, but only a little bit - and it means it’s overall a bit too sweet for me. But I guess without it the spiciness might have been a bit harsh.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, firm, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, yeasty, and sweetish bready malty aroma, hints of peach and apricot, some yeasty spiciness. Taste is slightly dry, minimally tart, slightly sweet, grainy, fruity, hints of peach and apricot, minmally peppery, spicy yeasty overtones; soft palate, smooth carbonation. Superbly balanced, bridled sweetness - very good!

A light smell. Hoppy character with hints of raisin and fruit. Nice red appearance and foamy head. Bittersweet. Fresh, short finish. Very enjoyable and special.

Fruchtig herber Antrunk, milde Kräuternoten. Der Alkohol ist erkennbar, stört aber nicht. Hell getreidig, die Fruchtigkeit sinkt. Milder und trocken herber Abgang. OK. 11/10/9/8/8/9

Bottle to pint glass Yeast right off the top, then orange, and lemon, and finally some caramel and pepper. It’s a cloudy amber with tons of particulates and a 1/2 creamy and 1/2 frothy mottled off white to tan head. Yikes...not looking to great. Taste is orange, and yeast, lots of malts with late peppery hops. The mouthfeel is very creamy and a bit chalky with a slight alcohol burn at the end. Quite good, but the appearance and chalkiness really hurt this one.

Pours a bright ruby tinted orange with a thick, bubbly white head. The nose is zesty and citrusy with light peppery esters and mild grassy hops. Mild toasted malts, caramel and a soft creamy palate. Quite sweet and savoury with a crisp, fruity with a zesty, somewhat bitter finish. As good as the other Glazen Toren brews.

Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, pale gold. Thick, bubbly, lasting, white head. Sultanas. Ripe orange. Light almond. Light caramel. Some grassiness. Taste is sweet. Then light dry. Fairly full bodied, kept in check by the prickly, liveliness. Yeasty, lightly tart, light bitter finish.

75 cl. bottle split with Kogymo @ ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske in Antwerp. Bottled on June 2013. Slightly hazy orange with a creamy off-white head that lasts for a long time. Smells of candy sugar, malts & grains, fruits, light herbs & dried citrus peel. Taste is grains, alternative malts, candy sugar, touch banana, very iron-rich water, spices, toffee, dried fruit peel, touch warming. Touch higher carb. Solid tripel but misses some oomph for me but I am not the biggest fan of abbey tripel’s.

Split a 750ml bottle. Poured a golden yellow color, fluffy white head, plenty of carbonation. Aroma was hops, fruity notes, citrus notes, yeast notes. Flavor was yeast, hops, fruits. Wish it was a little more smooth. Plenty of candy sugars.
