Ondineke is a classic tripel, brewed in the ancient way, again with exclusive natural ingredients: artesian water, malt (barley), hops, yeast and liquid candy sugar. As in the Saison no spices are added. Ondineke is an unfiltered top fermenting beer. It is soft, creamy, and of golden color. It is double hopped with the last real hops available from the region of Aalst (The variety is Hallertau Mittelfrüh). Ondineke has a positive taste evolution and the bottles are best kept standing in a cool, dark place. It is best before two years after the bottling date. 8.5 % alc.vol. makes this a beer to be savoured. Preferably Ondineke is to be served at a temperature between 6 to 10° C. Moreover Ondineke is at its best when served in the originally designed Glazen Toren glass.

Zwaarder bier maar zeer zacht, romig en een heel frisse smaak. Ik vind de omwikkelde flessen wel iets hebben, heeft iets verboden. Drink het uit hun mooie aparte glazen.

750ml tissue-wrapped bottle that’s been under the stairs since October 2010, split with missus and Sarah at The Penguin. Slim-lidded, fully hazed pale orange. Aroma of lime, jasmine, botanicals, pale malt, shrubby hop. Slick, flowered, mellow hoppy flavour with more jasmine and lime-like impressions. Almond, peanut and toast in the finish. Mellow balanced effort without a sniff of booze.

This bottle that I’m drinking says that it’s best before Dec 31, 2010 so my rating might be different if the beer were fresher. It pours a cloudy light golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is of weak citrus, lemon and hops follow, with some cloves and yeast. Flavor is a little soured. Yeast, coriander, clove, spice, expired malt, and some earthiness. Bubbly palate. Leaves a sour clove and yeast finish.

750ml bottle shared with Steve,Even though this was poured quite cold to say that it was lively would be like saying that the Titanic is a little damp!Gusher it was.Citrus, lemon and hops immediately filled the room, surrounding area, house and complimented the appearance of a hazy golden beer with a huge white head.Lemon featured in the taste too with other citrus notes and apple along with floral and herb flavours too.Crisp, well balanced, refreshing and tasty if a tad lively beer.

Bottle - 750ml. Beautiful pale gold body with a thin white creamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with citrusy, honeyish, flowery, and yeasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Its sharp hoppy taste carries malty, coriander, and herbal notes. Ends with a decent, moderately warming, bitter/herbal finish. Very enjoyable Tripel.

75cl bottle. Completely hazy orange/yellow liquid. Medium white head. Nose : Candy, straw, fruity, citrus zest and little soap. Sip : Low density liquid with oily and creamy texture. The beer is sweet with fruity and soapy aromas. The ending gets more hoppy with some esters and some bitter zest. A bit soapy. Overall it’s a nice tripel , it does remind a lot the saison d’erpe mere but with more bite and esters. It still hides well the alcohol and is easy to drink. One of the most drinkable tripel beers I tasted yet.

750 ml bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours cloudy golden orange color with a fairly dense 1-2 finger white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some decent spotty lacing clings to the glass, with a fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of pear, lemon, apricot, honey, grape, caramel, herbal, floral, earth, and light spiciness. Fairly nice and balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of pear, apricot, grape, lemon, herbal, honey, earth, pepper, and light yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of grape, apple, pear, herbal, honey, caramel, earth, and light yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice malty flavor balance; with minimal cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly slick and creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is a very nice tripel. Nice flavor balance and complexity; and very smooth and easy to sip on. I would imagine that his was an older bottle though, and would like to try a younger vintage. Quite enjoyable.
