(bottled, 0.75l) Pale blonde color. Mild, yeasty aroma. Soft and pleasant taste, medium-bodied. Reasonably nice Belgian, but easily forgettable.

Golden with a lot of wheat beer character. Bananas, pistage, vanilla, citrus and rather sweet.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2005 Bottled, brewed by De Proef, according to Akkurat. Lightly hazy golden, small head. Estery yeasty banana aroma. Sweet and lively with balanced sweetness. The intense estery nose is followed by a clean, rounded body, and there’s a mere hint of grassy hops. Fresh and with obvious wheat malt character.

Bottle Clear, blond body. Fizzy, white head, mostly diminishing. No lace. Yeast aroma. Lightly bitter flavour. Some anise in the finish. Not bad, but rather dimensionless.

(Brewed at De Graal for the beginning Kleinbrouwerij De Glazen Toren.) Pale hazy orange; yellowish thick head, dissipating, lacey. Nose with crystal malt, cookies, citrussy hops. Quite bitter taste. Both pale and coloured malts very obvious but the refreshing, again citrussy bitterness is clearly hoppy in style. Fruity finish with also a sweetish peanut-like flavour. Well-bodied. Alcoholic mouthflavour and aftertaste, orange-liqueur like. A rather typical strong Belgian ale. The citrus hops at the start stand for the individual Jef van den Steen touch. Yet, it is a beer where I like the individual things, and less the overall result.
