3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 inbirraveritas (787) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAR 30, 2010
Csapolva a sörfőzde kocsmájában.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (9205) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 3, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. It had a fizzy, orange-golden body and a creamy, three-finger, off-white head. Banana, a tad too much bubblegum, some citrus and a fine touch of cloves in the aroma. The flavor also had a bit too much bubblegum, but the banana, citrus and cloves were nice. The bitterness too. Effervescent, full-bodied and quite dry in the mouth. Bitter finish with banana and bubblegum. A nice weissbier, but especially the aroma had too much bubblegum. 091010
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - NOV 28, 2006
Bottled. Very poor and especially bad looking Weizen. Aroma of bananaand bread. Medium sweet, light bitter, banana, dough and a hint of caramel, flat. Reminded me a little of Werthers Echte.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - AUG 6, 2006
(draught at the beautiful art nouveau brewpub) Cloudy and hazy orange coloured hue with a small but firm and persistent foamy white head. Sweet wheat-accented aroma, dense north-rhine-like banana notes, accompanied by shades of apricot and pear; very restrained clove phenols, which I thoroughly appreciate most of the time (I hereby admit not being a Hefe-Weizen lover, except for the summer time). Light-sweet flavour, light bodied with a smooth carbonation for a Weizen. Wheat-malty, yeasty and moderately fruity (banana, apricot) taste; rather slim and slightly sour and light bitter finish. Not very impressive Weizen but all in all pretty drinkable.

Tap (at the brewpub): Hazy, golden coloured; fruity, yeasty nose (apples, bananas in the background), sweet flavour with a little bit of acidity; soft fruity finish, almost hoppy and a bit tart in the aftertaste. Quite pleasant Weizen !

After having been to Bavaria a few times and being a big hefe fan, I didn’t expect much from this brewery in the "North." Yes, I love Gleumes’ altbier, but a weissbier? However, this one had a nice pillowy head. The aroma was most strongly of bananas, although the cloves/spicing were somewhat reserved and underplayed. The flavor certainly had some bananas going on, but also was bready and yeasty with a slightly bitter/sour finish that ended mostly bitter (some noble hops?). The alcohol presence (no idea what the ABV was) had to be more strongly perceived than what it actually was (ie. it didn’t hide itself well). Some caramel malts, which were out of character.

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2006 Gentle aroma with rich head. Served in 0.33L glasses from the brewery in Krefeld. Excellent flavor with a sweetness I can’t put my finger on. Quite excellent with their Bauern-omlette!
Cheers!
Update: 14MAR06 - 0.5L Flip-Top Bottle. Fluffy white head atop a golden, slightly hazy and quite bubbly body. Aromas of grains, flowers, fruit, and spices. Medium-Full body - almost creamy. Initial flavors of banana and spices, moves onto the grains and ends with a slightly dry bitterness. MMmmm. Very tasty.
