3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 desdemoor (14) - London, - OCT 12, 2008
33cl bottle from Cerveteca, Barcelona, with the ABV declared as 4.5%. Claims to be fermented for seven days, matured for 21, for serving at 8-12C. A very dark brown beer with a creamy fawn head and a markedly malty aroma with soy sauce, chocolate and caramel. Much less malt than expected on the palate which is slightly tangy and fruity with a touch of sourness, unintentional I’m sure and not especially welcome. There are some pleasant chewy and spicy flavours but otherwise it’s a bit aggressive and raw. Mouth-coating cocoa on a long lasting finish with light roast notes, but the malty promise is not followd through and the beer can’t make up its mind where it’s going. Unlike Mes I didn’t have the benefit of Park Guëll as a backdrop!
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 23, 2011
Sehr gutes Exemplar! 7/11/11/12/10/11

Bottled 330ml (Old Bank, BB 05/2011)
Dark, almost opaque brown color, huge fluffy brownish head. Tobacco, caramel, toasted malts in the aroma. Active carbonation, tickling! Light to medium bodied. Some toasted malts, tobacco, coffee beans, vegetables. Carbonation is so active that it disturbs badly for enjoying this beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2008
A Mes rate: Drank this in Gaudi’s Park Guell while sat at a park bench with a stunning view out over the whole of Barcelona with his incredible Sagrada Familia directly ahead of me. A view worthy of many a photograph and without doubt the most amazing setting in which I have rated a beer. Anyway... Strong dark malt aroma with slight notes of straw and caramel. A dark cloudy brown colour with a thin but lasting tan head. Strong malt flavour that is rich and bready. Faint notes of liquorice too. Fair amount of caramel giving it a slightly aged feel. Faint chocolate in the finish with a very delicate bitterness. Medium dry on the palate. Certainly one of the better Spainish beers I have had.
