3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Pale gold. White, broken head. Peachy, zesty, marmalade aroma. Maltiness peeks through. There’s an initial jammy, sweetness on first taste, before a zesty, citric pithiness comes in. The light maltiness balances everything up. Very nice beer.

Cask conditioned handpump King Billy Northampton 26/07/13. A hazy light brown coloured beer with a white head. Fruity and hoppy and malty. A well balanced sessionable beer with a hint of spice somewhere it seems. Quite a decent bittersweet beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hand-pulled half-pint in the excellent Duke William, Stourbridge on 6th July during the RB Black Country Beer Trip.
Old gold/light amber body, beige head that tried to stay but failed.
Malty molasses rule the nose and taste: caramel and toffee notes, just about held in check by a subtle hop presence that gives a satisfying semi-dry and bitter finish.
Body depth fine and in keeping with it’s alcohol strength: a good beer.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Craven Arms, Birmingham. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malty, but a little weak. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, malty and with an aromatic hoppiness on the palate. The bitterness was a bit of a shock with the first mouthful, but it grew on me the more I drank.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned at The Rose & Crown, Charlbury, Oxon. Hazed amber to brown with white head. There is a sharp, biscuity malt initially with this, crisp, slightly toasty. This carries quite a green hop, bitter, grassy, leafy with a leaning towards a pine note. Pretty interesting a decent. Good start.
