Nice attempt at a Dunkel aroma, caramel sweet malt with a bit of bitterness... some tinny. Chestnut and clear in body, it has a lively carbonation that can, alas, not support a proper head. So we’re left with a tan film. Very thin in the mouth. The flavor is sweet malt with a slightly roasted edge. It finishes on a sweet, mineral water taste. Glueked again!

Bottle. Pours a slightly murky golden brown with a slight, white head. Nose holds some faint malts and caramel. Fairly sweet flavor, some caramel, slight roast. A little bit of artificial, syrupy flavor. Finishes lightly sweet with hints of bitterness. Overall pretty average.

Aluminum Bottle. Pours a cola brown with a tan soda like head. Malty with a dry grainy earthy character, light corn and chocolate malt. Not so good.

12oz ’can’ bottle. Poured a deeper reddish / brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, grains, and lots of cardboard. Tastes of roast, chocolate, more cardboard, and some caramel.

I don’t know about this one...pours a copper colour that is heavy in malts and chocolate. Creamy dark with a tan head that sticks around for a while, nice lacing very fragrant in caramel.

Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - FEB 13, 2008
Served via 12-oz aluminum bottle during the Winterfest 2008 in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Pours a clear brown amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates clean. Aroma of roasted dark malt, some multi-grain character with peanut shells, moist cardboard, and a touch of roast pork. Taste is medium bodied, well-carbonated with flavors of roasted dark caramel malt, some light tobacco, some citrus zest. Finish is watery, with a light dark malt aftertaste that quickly disappears. Not a total drain pour but nothing memorable about this brew.

I didn’t think it was as bad as most people. I found it to be smooth and a decent beer.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2008 Hmmm...I didn’t think it was as bad as most people. But having said that, the biggest reason I bought it was because I liked the aluminum bottle. Beer is pretty much as described here.

Sample from IC Brewfest on 9/22/07. Clear brown with a miniscule light beige head. Aroma of toasted grain and sweet caramel. Flavor was the same with some odd tang. Wet paper oxidation is present as well. No bitterness. Low to moderate carbonation with a watery body. Not god awful, but pretty damn bad. This beer doesn’t really have a point.

From an aluminum bottle. Brown shoe leather body with a light khaki head. The aroma is green apple with some light caramel. There is also some cheap peanut butter. The taste is burning plastic with some cheap tobacco. There is also some nasty roast beef character in the corny finish. Nasty, makes me shudder with each drink. The bottle looks pretty cool, but the evil contained within should stay there, not go into my glass. I had to have a lot of discipline to not toss this down the sink.
