3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7491) - Banbury, - JUL 18, 2009
Cask conditioned at Blakes of Dover. Amber with white head. Sweet malts predominate this beer, some sulpher on the nose, lacks depth, but compared to the rest of Dover it was a treat.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 berkshirejohn (3020) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2009
Gravity dispensed at Doris’s (The Red Lion), Snargate. Labelled as DSB, presumably Doris’s Special Bitter. AMber with a thin ring of white head; warm earthy malt aromas and a hint of farmyard; more earthy malt flavours; well-balanced light dry bitter finish. Very pleasant.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2006
Cask handpull at Dering Arms, Pluckley. Badged as Dering Ale. Deep copper, lasting white head. Extremely malty and hoppy. Orange/tangerine fruit, somewhat like candied fruit with smack of bitter hops on end. One of the best pints of this that I’ve had in a time. Seems to have more of the fine light ale about it than the dark. Distinctive Goacher’s aroma and just slightly acidic in the mouth
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 5, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2010 This was sold as "Shipwrecked" but is probably the same as Goachers Special, a session bitter supplied for re-badging as a house beer as it has the same ABV and I can’t find any other reference to Shipwrecked. The colour was a deep amber copper. Fruity, with a good ration of balancing hop bitterness. Quite a lot of dry malt in evidence. Bittersweet finish. Cask (gravity dispense) at the Shipwrights Arms, Faversham.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - JUL 8, 2003
UPDATED: JUL 16, 2009 Dering Ale
Jul, 2003 Dering Arms, Near Ashford, Kent.
Beer in good condition. Orange colour. Soft, soon vanishing head. Gentle, natural carbonation. Medium bodied with light tangerine flavour with enough rough edges to provide character, plus hints of oak. Sweet Marris Otter aroma with a touch of caramel. Initial soft finish but returns with a gentle dry bitterness. Good session ale. [3.2]
George V House Ale
Jul, 2004 King George V, Brompton. Dry and softly hoppy. Pleasant and in good condition. [3.0]
Wine, Ale & Cookhouse: WAC
Jan, 2006 Oak On The Green, Bearstead Flaccid. Soft and drinkable, but tastes like a blend. Nothing defined. [2.4]
Shipwrecked
Jul, 2009 Shipwrights Arms, Faversham. Toffee accented quaffing bitter. Touch of orange. Few hops. Beautiful condition. Very drinkable. [3.9]
