Cask conditioned – handpump – GBBF. A copper coloured bitter with some citric hop in the aroma, but also a sweetish undertone. The taste is crunchy and malty. Some cracker notes and a touch of late sweetness. Quite nice.

Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BBE Oct 06). Fruity hops to the fore with gentle malt sweetness in the mouth. Well balanced but just lacking a little pazaz.

[Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] An amber beer with a small white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel. The flavor is fruity with notes of caramel and a bitter finish, but the body is thin.

A robust bitter with plenty of flavour that explodes im your mouth.Very well balanced and in a field full of mundane bitters this one really stands out.

[Cask conditioned] Amber coloured. Very fruity aroma and flavour. Very fresh and pleasant. Trevor Goddard is one of my favourite actors.

Cask conditioned at The Botanic Gardens, Ventnor, I.o.W. Light amber beer with bubbly head. Well balanced malty bitter with a tangy, lemony hop overlay. Plenty of condition, the beer maintains a refreshing dryness throughout.

Filtered bottle. I enjoyed Goddard's Fuggle Dee Dum so much I opened this bottle of Special Bitter. Mmmm. Chris Coleman seems to be doing things right. A restrained yet tasty session bitter. Wonderfully balanced.
