Cask (handpump) , GBBF Day 3, August 2006. Amber colour. Seemed rather short of condition resulting in a slightly dull mouthfeel. Otherwise a pretty standard, slightly earthy British bitter. Not much more to say really. By no means bad but by no means special either.

Bottle. Light honey and barley malt aroma. Amber color with small head. Lightly sweet barley malt and lightly bitter herbal hops flavor. Body on the light side. Light but tasty.

Cask, at JDW The Palmerston Arms, Southsea 24.06.11 Pours amber with a slim white head, there is good clarity to this. Touch of sharpness and fruit on the nose, fruity in the mouth, touch dry, middling bitterness. Ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2012 Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 20/05/2012. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Cereal malt notes, with some fruity sweetness and hedgerow hops, leading to a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 5 April 2012) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus, apricots and slightly earthy hops. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, citrus and a generous earthy/citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Well balanced with an attractive hop character. Nice one.

Filtered bottle. I enjoyed Goddard's Fuggle Dee Dum so much I opened this bottle of Special Bitter. Mmmm. Chris Coleman seems to be doing things right. A restrained yet tasty session bitter. Wonderfully balanced.

50cl bottle of Goddards Special Bitter from the Hogs Back Brewery Shop. Poured pale amber with no head; light caramel malt aroma; biscuity caramel flavour with a light refreshing finish. A fine ordinary bitter.
