Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting beer that was first brewed in 1824 – it’s the special beer of Leipzig! The Gose is an own, very old type of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law because Gose is much older than it. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with a special yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by lactate fermentation during the maturing.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. A typical gose with very present, but not dominant milk serum. Smooth sourness and quite dry, thus easy to drink.

16.9 oz bottle. Hazy gold tone with some yeast sedimentation chunks (says to lightly shake bottle before opening to mix in yeast) - quick white foam. Lightly fruity & salty. A bit smooth & bland and not as tart as many. Picked up sour milk hints. Medium+ body and moderate- carbonation. Bottle says its brewed by Ritterguts Gose in Borna/Saxony, Germany.

Appearance: very very slight haze, light yellow color, medium off white head Aroma: berries, lemon, cherry, very aromatic Taste: sweet, faint tartness, caramel malt, even some alcohol which is hard to believe considering its abv, floral Palate: lively carbonation, medium mouthfeel, sweet aftertaste Overall: very unique beer, the way it mixes sweet and tart is interesting, not sure I'm the biggest fan of the flavor but interesting ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(on tap at Berweek Festival No:2 Krakow) Aroma is dominated by lactic bacterias, and coriander Appearance: very hazy, yellowish color, small white head. Taste: medium sourness, coriander/cytrusy notes in the finish, no sign of hops whatsoever-can’t feel any saltiness. Palate: watery, light-medium body, medium to high carbonation. Overall: Good representant of style however i couldn’t find any saltiness in this beer.

Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Pours hazy straw colored with a finger of white, well-retained head. Nose is tart and fruity, with malt, some yeast, and spice. Tastes tart, fruity, hopcitric, with some yeasty, spicy flavors, and a crisp and tart finish. Smooth and delicious, this one is a winner.

Based on the new recipe from 2015. Quite a big difference, should almost count as a new beer. More full in the taste now with the saltiness as a nice touch

[2015-09-16, Oluthuone Leskinen, Oulu] Samean oranssi. Nopeasti häipyvä vaahto. Tuoksussa omituista hapanta kotiviinimäisyyttä ja hiivaa. Maussa hedelmäisyyttä, happamuutta ja jonkinlaista kokonaisvaltaista "ruokaisuutta". Hiilihappoja miedosti, runko keskitäyteläinen.
