COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ritterguts Gose is a top-fermented, sourish and slightly salty-tasting beer that was first brewed in 1824 – it’s the special beer of Leipzig! The Gose is an own, very old type of beer that does not correspond to the German purity law because Gose is much older than it. Even today, it is still brewed with an admixture of coriander and salt in the traditional way with a special yeast in open fermentation. Its particular character our Gose gets thereby and by lactate fermentation during the maturing.
World Beer Awards London: World’s Best Gose 2013, Europe’s Best Gose 2014
Brewed by Hartmansdorf until 2014, brewed by Reichenbrand in Chemnitz from 2015

Bottle from Little’s. It occurred to me when I saw this bottle that I’ve never had an authentic German gose. I was curious how the Americans’ interpretations fared. Seems like we have been pretty faithful. This cloudy, light beer has a wonderfully briny aroma with tart lemon notes and tasteful coriander spice. The salt is dead on in the flavor. It gives it the right amount of savoriness. Good, solid tartness keeps me wanting another sip. It’s refreshing, dry and incredibly balanced. I could crush a few of these on a summer day.

Slightly lemony aroma, Anna gets boiled eggs. Lemonny wheaty taste. Light palate, pleasantly carbonated. Nice bite in the finish. Reminds me of baking, maybe lemon merangue pie? A bit quirky, but very drinkable and refreshing.

Sample from a bottle. Very good and refreshing beer - salt flavour is very noticable, but is not overhelming the beer.

Bottle.Pours light golden in color, white head. Aroma is slightly sour, tart lemons, just a note of coriander, wheat and salty at the end. In taste citrus, lemon with a bit of wheat, medium sour. Low body, low bitter with tart and salty finish. Very nice and refreshing.

Pours light orange with almost no head. Aroma: kind of "wild" elements coupled with sea salt, with some malty peach aroma in the background. Taste: salty and bitter taste followed by a smooth, little salty finish. Pretty high carbonation. It is my first gose. Interesting.

phaleslu (7208) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 15, 2015
500 ml bottle at Neons. Pours a barely cloudy gold on the lighter end of the spectrum with a small, wispy white film and tiny ring. Notes of lemon and lime citrus, sea salt, coriander, grass, straw, and a doughy, yeasty character throughout. Light-bodied, with a tart, dry mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Clean, and not bad.

TET (1947) - FINLAND - APR 4, 2015
A light yellow beer with a big and white head. Aroma has lemon, lactic acid, salt. Totally fresh. Taste has sourness, wheat, lemon, salt and freshness. Almost medium bodied, slipperyr to drink. Good beer and the lactic acid is combined naturally to the other flavours. Very refreshning.

Bottle. Hazy pale golden, foamy white head. Rubbery and muted citrus with salty seawatered hay in aroma. Citrus, slightly salty and sweet vibes in taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Some wheaty notes as well. The drinkability is really good here, this is something one could consume much of, especially during the summer time. Light spicyness towards the end.

Clear white pour. Aroma is floral and apple. Taste is sour upfront with notes of apple, spice and pear. Finishes dry and carbonation is moderate. Overall very good for style.
