ALLOVATE (1108), Perth, Australia Aug 3, 2006 Cask, handpump @ The White Horse Inn, Ettington (Home to the Ettington Rovers F.C. - giddyup!!!)
Hazy, honey gold with a firm, tight pad of white. Big buttery, sweet caramel nose with a hint of cracked pepper. Smooth, medium body with some residual carbonation (new cask). Slick notes of diacetyl are well pronounced but not too alarming. Otherwise it shows flavours of sweet malt, toffee and burnt, bitter caramel with a late gift of dark, savoury berries. Finish repeats the palate with some left over sweetness lingering on the tongue. Quite heavy for a bitter so it’s not recommended as session material but its a decent starter. Not bad.
