Cask conditioned at Barons Bar, Southport. Gold amber with white head. It’s a strange old place, I drive all the way to Merseyside and get a beer from just across the Cotswolds! Sharp, tinny type bitter, quite tangy and grapefruity. Good bitter finish, I happily explained to the locals how good the beers were down south compared to the north!!

Hand pulled at the Anchor, Birmingham. Excellent golden beer. Creamy, fruity and sweet. Doesn’t go for an all-out assault on the tastebuds, but is insistent and creeping. Fresh and very balanced, with all the fruit and bitterness you want, right through to the finish.
