3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DanielBrown (2722) - Birmingham (via Leicester), - APR 10, 2005
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. The Goffs website says this is a Porter, but I watched it being pulled from the correct pump, and this was definitely Golden! Dark gold, flat, with no head. Floral hop aroma. A smooth and evenly distributed hop flavour, with some pineapple. Only on the finish is a little dry malt exposed. On the better side of average.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 19, 2011
First tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow in April 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Floral hop resins present in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a rich digestive biscuit flavour with a very slight hint of butterscotch. This is quickly overpowered by strong hop resins imparting a dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is bitter edged with dry hops full in the mouth. An ok session Golden Ale but still mediocre for the abv.
