COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional Scottish session beer with less hops than it’s English counterparts, malt is the predominant flavor in this old-world beer. Long, cool, fermentations are used in Scottish brewing to create a clean malty beer. The malt-hop balance is tilted towards the malt side with enjoyable caramel/toffee notes which come from kettle caramelization, induced by a lengthy boil, and not the commonly used caramel malts.

Pours a rich copper color with a cream head and nice lacing. Malt, caramel, toffee and biscuit aroma and flavors. Medium body and mild carbonation. Biscuit and toffee finish.

Draft at brewery. Lots of caramel and burnt bread; toffee with a burnt sugar flavor. A touch of light alcohol warming. Pretty nice beer.

On tap @ the brewery. Clear amber/brown with a small beige head. Aroma is toffee, dough and a touch of smoke. Flavor is rich and malt, lots caramel and bread dough, there is some light peat flavors as well. Medium body with soft carbonation. Good beer, my favorite from Gold Hill.

Bomber from the brewery. Pours dark ruddy brown with a transient off-white head (or maybe beige). Aromas of peat and dark fruit. Full bodied. Flavor is peaty and darkly fruity. Somehow the body density lessens. The finish is peaty and fruity, not really very sweet. Not a sticky sweet ale. Interesting and dryish. Not to mention peaty.
