Made in Taiwan ... Chiang Kai-shek may have taken China’s best antiquities across the Strait in 1949 but he forgot to take two decent brewers on the ark. No wonder the UN won’t recognise them.

12oz can. Looks light. Aroma of pale and lightly nutty malts, some dough, and very light hops. Flavor the same. Average to light texture. A decent pale lager.

not sure where the ’distinctive’ flavour is, as it had no discernible flavour at all... bog standard yellow water with bubbles

Okay-ish local beer, no foam to speak of, taste is quite flat. It's a bit of a Heineken rip-off

Can from Din Tai Fung in Singapore. Small head that disappeared quickly. Aroma was kind of like lolly-water. Taste is like watered-down beer with a mix of lemonade I guess. It was very smooth to drink, however it didn’t really taste like much. Carbonation was next to nothing, so that might be why.

Although similar in looks and aroma (with that nose of fresh bakery products, also present in the Japanese draught beers), this is better than its sister without the condecoration. It has more of a bitter, hoppy bite.

This is another brew derived from traditional Taiwan Beer, which target customer were focused on the younger ages. A little bit of spicy but still tasted smooth.

500ml Can bought in Singapore (SGD$5.90):
Sweet with a slightly citrus aroma, some lager malts and a hint of bread. There is an unusual lager aroma plus some water at the end.
Yellow, straw colour with a tiny head that is bubbly and disappears fast.
Citrus with an almost lemonade like taste, if one that is a little watered down and comes with a touch of skunk on top. The beer is quite bland after that with some bitterness but not much, some corn and bread with various other adjuncts. Terrible.
Incredibly flat with pretty much no carbonation at all and only minor hints of bitterness to distract from an overwhelmingly watery taste.
Pathetic excuse for a beer and a disappointing introduction a Taiwanese beer with a terrible taste and a shocking mouthfeel, this one is close to being the worst beer I have ever tried. How this is a gold medal winner I’ll never understand.

Bottle. Thank you Li Lorian! Very pale gold with white film. Wort, sweet and some sugar in the nose, watery, mostly sweet and a little bitter in the mouth. Sweet finish, light body and mildly fizzed. Pretty lame.

Very ordinary Asian rice-lager, therefore watery and bland. Sweet and bready, mild bitterness towards the end.
