Nice bold flavor. A very sweet stout that packs a punch. Caramel and vanilla are strong, even overpowering, but slight bitterness and dark stout flavor helps to temper it. The brewery will not let you take growlers of this home! I voiced my dissatisfaction.

On tap, at brewery. Pours a clear dark brown body with a one finger fizzy light brown head. Huge vanilla nose, smells like vanilla extract. No bourbon at at all really, this smells more like candy than beer. Very light bourbon on the flavor. Just tons of vanilla and lactose. This has to be just lightly aged on chips. Even the roast and coffee notes you would expect were drowned out by the vanilla. Similar to the Onyx in mouthfeel, but with a little clinginess on the finish and tons of lingering vanilla. If this were labeled as a vanilla cream stout, it would be a decent beer, but a Bourbon Barrel Stout? No way.

On tap in the Kutztown local. Very dark ruby with dark tan cream head. Creamy malt with powder cocoa nose, vanilla texture. Malt happy and drinking this down was a pleasure. Aroma of light sweet Hershey cocoa and muddled cask conditioned roast was very nice. Liking this!

Dark body, small medium tan head. Nose is pure vanilla extract syrup. Taste is pasty and sweet, turns basically into a vanilla soda over the middle, finishing with some roasted vanilla beans and cola. Weird. No stout in there at all, and no bourbon whatsoever, just vanilla, vanilla and more vanilla.

Rating #700, woohoo! Draft @ Golden Avalanche, pre-BCTC beerventure. Pours a dark cola color; medium tan head with fine-bubbled lacing. Vanilla extract and light chocolate in the aroma. Overly sweet, marshmallow and cheap vanilla extract upfront; more of a cola character than any sort of legitimate bourbon, with some warm chocolate and no show of alcohol. Doesn’t seem to be much bourbon or stout in here, just vanilla cola. Still drinkable, but not good. Only ABV info I could find was "it’s probably above 7%, because it’s a big beer."

on tap-pours a thin light tan head and dark brown color. Aroma is cherry, vanilla, malt, chocolate. Taste is more Jack Daniel-like than the aroma and not quite as good as the aroma. A bit thin.
