GABF 2010 as the Cuvee 1 BA imperial stout in Pappy Van Winkle barrels. Pours a nice deep dark brownish black with a thinning head. Aroma is nice dark chocolate malts, caramelized wood, oak, sweet sugary bourbon, vanilla, roast and ligth burnt smokey hints with earthy licorice. Flavor is bourbon- pappy, sweet, toast, burnt biscuit, chocolate, cocoa powder, oily black licorice, earth, and mostly smooth in the end without getting too over the top or alcoholic. Pretty good.

Dark Brown; minimal head. Aroma of tropcal fruits with some malt. Mix of flavors including chocolate malts, barrel wood, vanilla, and considerable funkiness. Tasted at San Diego Brewing company celebration 12/07.

2005 Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Virtually no head. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, chocolate), with notes of whisky and vanilla. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Simple aroma, on the bland and watery side. Doesn’t really compete with the world’s best.

No head. Dark brown. Soy aroma with some sweet esters. Upfront whiskey, pretty much dominates the palate aside from roasted hints. Mild chocolate finish.
