hopdog (4645), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 12, 2006 On tap at the Golden City Brew Pub. Poured a light and clear yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas and tastes of grass, grain and light citrus. acrdz (4361), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 29, 2008 Draft at the brewery. Mostly clear brass yellow colored body, a slight haze noticed. Fresh cracked pils malt nose, some snappy cracker character, some light honey sweetness noticed, a light touch of what resembles noble hops. Well balanced and smooth texture. Subtle honey sweetness up front with some drying over the middle and back. No flaws noticed, subtle and quiet overall, easy to drink. Ernest (4249), Boulder, Colorado, USA May 30, 2002 Updated: Aug 21, 2006Bottle. Head is initially average sized, white, frothy, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium yellow (bottle conditioned). Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of candy sugar, pineapple, and lemon zest. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Just a little too much on the sweet side to be a good quaffer, but attractively aromatic and quite estery. Damn near a Belgian golden ale. Could be an old bottle (which would explain the esters, based on the substantial yeast in the bottle). Golden City has been quite inconsistent in the past, perhaps due to the tiny garage conditions, so please note that this particular bottle may not be indicative of the average quality. motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic Jun 27, 2004 they claim to be the second largest brewery in golden but i didn´t expect it to be this small. the brewer had to go get another keg of this to put in the fridge. anyway, a very basic pale ale, light lychee and detergent in the aroma, bready, very thin and with some unpleasantness in the finish Aubrey (2603), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 29, 2006 Updated: Oct 25, 2006Labeled "Clear Creek Gold" Pale Ale on the 22-ounce bottle. Mostly headless, slightly hazy and light yellow-gold. Perfumey nose. Smooth and a little sticky, with just a mild carbonation. Malts were cakey, doughy and a little yeasty. Perhaps a bit of honey sweetness as well. Hops were earthy and grassy, with only a subtle, flowery bitterness. Pinch of spice in the aftertaste. I think I’m making it sound more interesting than it really is.
