3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (6408) - Boulder, USA - SEP 17, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2008 Draft at the brewery, extremely fresh sample, there’s a huge, vibrant pugency, the dry-hopping is extremely wet, green and fresh, and the hop aroma is full of sharp garlic and pine. Mouthfeel is solid, bitterness is appropriately sharp, and hop flavors center around dry pine wood, green vegetal honey and catty garlic. Very good stuff fresh from the brewery. Solid IPA.
Bottle. Apple juice color, light haze but obviously filtered. Heavy diacetyl in the nose, comes across as butter-heavy apple cider. Frothy and full up front, dissolves quickly, has some sour mashed apples, heavy butter, light acidity, ugh, terrible, very difficult to drink. I was told that the infection problems in the bottling line was fixed. This bottle got a 1.9 but was obviously not as the brewer intended.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hophead21112 (204) - Louisville, Colorado, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Hazy copper pour with a slightly off-white head, good retention. Aroma is hops - citrus, just a touch of caramel, grass. Smooth, almost creamy body, with low carbonation, low alcohol warmth, bittersweet on the palate. Unfortunately turns a little watery and bland on the mid-palate. Dry, bitter finish. Incomplete with that middle part missing... otherwise, a decent IPA. In the overcrowded IPA field, you need to present something much more than this to compete. Beats the Molson Coors, though!
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 talon1117 (1066) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 10, 2010
The pour is mostly clear and orange in color with a small, white, pillowy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves minimal, drippy lace. The nose is quite danky, fresh resinous notes, light grapefruit, hints of sweet biscuits, very fresh dry hopping notes. The flavor is less hoppy than the nose, sweet breads and nutty notes make up the base with some resin, light pine, and tangerine, making up the hop flavors; the bitterness was actually less than medium... The palate is watery, lively, crisp, and light to medium. The finish is short, still with sweet breads, some light resins, and just a bit of tangerine left. A very fresh hoppy nose, almost a bit too full of lupulin, but a less than medium bitterness for an IPA. The lack of bittering hops just made the flavor seem like a different beer than the nose, not to mention the thin and watery palate. Quite disappointing.
