BeerandBlues2 (6126) - Lone Tree, USA - MAR 1, 2009
Draught. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, dark brown head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toasted grain, coffee), light hops (flowers), average yeast (dough, leather) with notes of alcohol, tar, smoke, and peppers. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a spicy finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

potbeercollege (1329) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 4, 2010
Boulder Strong Fest at Avery. Black with dark tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee mixed with nacho cheese and more legitimate spices. Taste is burnt coffee/chocolate into subtle spicy hot pepper flavor. A little novelty but nicely executed, the peppers complement and don’t dominate the brew.

From a 22 oz bottle at the brewery. An aggressive pour produced a jet black beer with a beautiful creamy tan head. Espresso is very evident on the nose (along with some smokey pepper) and carries through on the palate. Not much pepper flavor initially, but the pepper spiciness really comes through at the end. Overall this is a very nicely balanced beer; The flavors of coffee and pepper meld very nicely with one another. This would have paired beautifully with the pork ribs we enjoyed prior to the tasting. Simply an amazing taste experience; one of the best beers I’ve had this year.

draft at mountain sun stout month. pitch black and dense with an oily, glistening dark brown head. oily, inky, rich, resinous, instantly reminding me of the sheen coating of recently roasted coffee bean... light bite of generic peppers, very minimal, but with a rich, full, chewy body, perfectly attenuated malt body. lovely stuff.

Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Spicy, coffee nose. Very nice flavor. Surprisingly mellow, but packed with flavor. Coffee, spices, and beer. Nice combo.
