COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Used by Chief Colorow and his tribe as a lookout point, Lookout Mountain has long provided an impressive scenic vista. Its namesake, a velvety smooth oatmeal stout may be found in a brewery comfortably nestled at the base of the foothill. Which might explain why the locals think the view from the bottom is every bit as as good. Lookout Stout is only handcrafted brewed at the second largest brewery in Golden.

Wheat Ridge (Denver), Co. - Applejack Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Jet black pour, bubbly off-white head, brief lacing, Aroma has some marshmallow accents, a hint of licorice. Flavor is mellow with some light vanilla touches, a bit of unsweetened chocolate, a dash of licorice. Mouthfeel could be a bit thicker, but does not detract overall. Not bad at all.

Great looks and smell but doesn’t deliver. Black with lace already cascading down the glass. The roast smell is perfect. The taste is OK, sugary sweet and coffee. Thin mouthfeel. Bottle from JMBSH received in person in Denver.

Bomber - fizzy, cola-like pour - this seems to be suffering from the early onset of an infection - oxidation, stale maltiness, a papery character - a mild tartness that seems like it would have soon turned into a sourness - this seems to be a problem with their bottled products - seems like it was probably a good stout when it went in the bottle, though - coffee, toasty character, bittersweet chocolate - but it is all subordinate to the infection - moderate acidity in the finish - maybe they just need to stop bottling?

Solid stout. Pours a thick, creamy head. Opaque in the glass. Big coffee flavors with roasted malts and nice caramel notes. Medium bodied for a stout. Really well balanced, classic stout.

Cocoa powder nose. Dark brownish black with a medium deep tan head. Sweet dark chocolate, not overly roasted bitterness, slight tart bitterness. Lower carbonation, thinner body, but finishes full and rich. Nice beer, big components, yet very drinkable.

the beer poured a dark brown/ tar body and a thin Lt. brown head. The smell is light and malty. Nice carbonation and easy to drink for a stout

Draught. Pours opaque with a small, rocky, tan head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, toasted grain), light hop (herbs), average yeast (leather) with notes of dates, figs, prunes, and tar. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and bitterness, light acidity.

Bomber poured a translucent deep dark brown nearly black with a small diminishing tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, oatmeal, bakers chocolate, light tar and light licorice. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a watery finish.. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, light licorice, light smoke and a hint of tar with a smooth watery lingering roasty finish. Would be a better beer if it had more body.
