Tap at the brewpub. Pours black with tan head. Burnt malt aroma. Fullish body/creamy carb. Flavor is smooth burnt malt - and I think I get the oatmeal aspect. Plus it is nicely hopped. Very, very good.

A very beautiful pour nets a slightly carbonated, jet black beer, with streaks of brown slipping through around the edges. Unfortunately the promise of its appearance disapates with a hugely burnt smelling nose, with some type of liquid smoke aroma dominating. Better on the palate, with nicely roasted coffee flavors up front and some nice hops on the finish. Seems too young, and the roasty character makes it hard to drink too much of this one.

Bomber thanks to footbalm, bought on our amazing journey in Colorado. Pours a dark black color with a small white head. The aroma is quite nice; oats and roasted malts, some sweet coffee also. The flavor was similar; coffee, roasted malts, cocoa. The only downside was that the body was very thin and watery.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a big creamy dark brown head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is roasted malts and chocolate with some off plasticy/vegetal notes.

The flavor is bitter roasted malts and sweet chocolate and some lactose. As it warms some off-notes come out - burnt plastic. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with full but smooth carbonation.

Overall, pretty simplistic but enjoyable when cold. As it warmed, it became less so as some off-notes started dominating.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a thick rapidly disappearing head of a nice mocha color, some mild lacing over a very black opaque body.....nose has nice coffee, chocolate tones....taste is light watery with a bit of bitter finish.....mouthfeel has none of the creaminess an oatmeal (listed on the bottle as one) should have. After the initial appearance and nose a total bomb.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a rim of brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of cocoa, but also a siight off-note of dust. The flavor is sweet with notes of vegetables, cardboard, and roasted malt as well as a light note of acidity, leading to a dry bitter cocoa finish.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours black with a fully gone head. Hardroasted malt and liqourice aroma, vague oaties note - pleasant aroma. Flavour is roasted, liqourice and dark malty. Light butterish on the back of the tongue. A bit unrefined. Dark acidic finish.

Bottle. Pours black without much head. Strongly roasty nose with a dark chocolate note. Very thin. Acidic roast and cardboard. Definitely an oxidized bottle. I’ll try to find another bottle sometime to see if this is an aberration. Tastes like coffee watered down with iced tea. I’m surprised how bland this is compared to the aroma. 3 7 3 2 7

22oz bottle. Pours black with a very small tan head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and some coffee. Roasted malt flavour with chocolate and coffee, with a burnt malt flavour following quickly. I could do without the burnt malt flavour as well as the plastic and metal tastes that show up. The finish is of burnt malt with some bitterness. With every sip it becomes more unpleasant. Under-carbonated with a thin mouthfeel. The best part of this beer are the appearance and aroma, it’s all downhill from there. It’s going to be a challenge finishing this bomber.
