2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, USA - SEP 1, 2005
(Draft: Eagle Brewing Co. in Mukilteo, WA) Wow, hard to find this place. It’s looks like a small deli that used to be someone’s house, and they only had one of their beers on tap, the golden ale, and well, I guess I don’t have much choice, golden ale it is, and I’ll drink it while watching "When Harry Met Sally" on the tube. Not expecting much, I am pleasantly surprised. It’s a pretty standard golden ale, grainy, moderately sweet, mildly bitter with a subtle but spicy hoppiness. Grainy nose is mildy spicy from the hops. Light body. Hazy, light golden color. Small, white head settles to a broken film, leaving a bit of lace at the top of the glass. Not my favorite style, but for the style, this is fine, but the movie is better...
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beershine (4754) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - FEB 28, 2008
Pour is hazy, almost greenish-yellow with lots of rising bubbles and thin, soft head, lace rings. Taste is crisp and hoppy, clean, unassertive. Mild aromas. Average.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 linc33 (184) - Albany, New York, USA - JUL 11, 2006
On tap at the brewery (restaurant?) Pale yellow, clear. Corn aroma. Instant malt on the tongue. Ale beginning and typical yellow corn finish. Seems like a new brewery. A drinkable first shot.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 3, 2005
Light amber colour with slight haze. Malt-accented, with some earthy yeast notes and slight toastiness. Reasonable complexity for style. Slightly earthy finish. Straightforward example.
