Not a bad brown. Pours a cola color with a thick tan head. Smells great, of cola, vanilla, nuts and coffee. Taste is basic, with cola and coffee and a vanilla finish. Had on tap at Bay Area Brew Fest 2015.

12oz can pours with a clear amber to brown body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up roasted malts, soft sweetened coffee, some malt balls and dash of chocolate. The taste starts sweet with malts and a bit of caramel and then heading into mild dark roasted malts and brown sugar sweetened coffee. Midway and into the finish it picks up chocolate to join a modest coffee sensation to close out the experience. A bit on the sweet side for my taste.

Poured a translucent deep brown colour with a one- to two-finger light tan foamy head that retained OK and laced OK. Carbonation medium to high and fine. Aroma subtle of sweet malt (a bit lager like), chocolate and coffee. Taste is much stronger than the aroma would lead you to expect with coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Light body feeling a bit thin but not watery. Smooth with a creamy mouthfeel with a slight bitterness on the finish. Pleasant and easy drinking.

020115. This beer is as good as the great looking can that it comes in. I bought this beer from Archive Beer Boutique at West End in Brisbane. I’ve had a few of Golden Roads beers, 6 in fact, and they have all been quite good. The thing that really catches your eye and sets these beers apart from anything else on the shelf is the awesome cans that depict various scenes across Los Angeles. And the fact that Golden Roads beers all comes in cans is another great thing.
At 5.5% alcohol by volume this is a beer that you can easily drink a lot of. Poured into a pint glass the beer is a thin brown colour with flecks of red throughout when held up to the light. The head starts of deep but settles to an even layer of thick tan foam.
In the nose there is chocolate mixed in with malt and the faintest trace of smoke. While the beer may look thin in the glass it is the exact opposite once it gets into your mouth, the beer fills the mouth with flavour and is quite thick.
The flavour mirrors the aroma with more chocolate and smoke. There is also some caramel in the background but you have to work to get it. A beer that I would go back to time and again.

From a can. Pours like coke, not much head, mild chocolate aroma and flavours, roasted bitterness and caramel, pretty nice stuff.

I like what @adamnowek said: "Slight tropical fruit mixed with the malts on the nose. Soft and fuzzy texture. Slightly spiced taste."

Deep browny coppery colour with a thick tan head. Toasty, toffee, those Arnotts Malt-coffee biscuits on the nose (they don’t smell like coffee, they’re just called that because, you know, you dip them in your coffee). Big malty, toffee taste, sweet, there’s only a little bitterness. It kind of feels a little thin at first but that big malt biscuit taste carries over. I actually like this a lot more than what it’s rated as

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can, 5.5% ABV. Brown with a beige head that soon fades to a coat. Aroma of brown sugar, smoke (more traditional, huh) mocha, spices. Smells a bit unfinished really. And there’s a bit of that in the taste too, along with some syrupy chocolate (although the body is a bit on the watery side),kola and other nuts, weeds. Lowish bitterness still cuts through and it leans a little towards dry but cloying and messy. Poor.
