Canned bought from Whole Foods Pasadena. I had this on tap a few weeks ago but this rating is from the can. Aroma- very faint, likely not much dry hopping. Appearance is great, very clear and dark orange gorgeous color. Taste for my palate is more like a Pale Ale (its lighter flavored than Dales Pale Ale), it has a nice hop profile, just not as big/bold/assertive as other WCIPA. I imagine this is what they were shooting for, yet as a freaky IPA hop head, this is more a Pale Ale for me. For a Pale Ale, I’d likely give it a 4.0. For an IPA I will keep 3.4 for now. I want this brewery to succeed and for them to get ALOT of my business, which I will gladly give them, I need a 7% IPA.

Point The Way has the taste, smell, look and mouthfeel consistent with top shelf California IPA’s like Union Jack 7.5%, Torpedo 7%, Alesmith IPA 7%, Sculpin 7% etc At 5.2% Point The way delivers on the promise of a satisfying hoppy beer with a lot less booze.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruit aroma. Nice grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor with spice. Medium bodied. Nice bitterness. Tropical fruit and grapefruit lingers with light earthiness.

On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours light copper with a decent off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a mellow caramel malt flavor with a nice hoppy bitter finish. Very well-crafted.

On draft at Beer Revolution. This was a really nice surprise. It pours a beautiful golden color with a very rich, creamy white head. The aroma is nicely fresh hoppy with grass and some tropical fruit with a hint of caramel malt. The flavor is nicely balanced yet hop forward for a lower alcohol IPA. I picked up grass, canteloupe, tropical fruit, and just a hint of caramel sweetness. It had a nice bitter finish. This reminded me of Firestone Pale 31, only with a tad more malt balance. I’m impressed.

This beer should be a perfect 5, but it’s hard to give the nuts to a beer with only 5.2%. These guys have done an outstanding job making an approachable IPA. KUDOS

On tap @ Mohawk Bend in LA. A nice gold color with a white head and some lacing. It smells like a fresh orange and has a nice hop and citrus flavor. The body is smooth and not very bitter. A very drinkable IPA.
