Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Grapefruit aroma. Nice grapefruit and tropical fruit flavor with spice. Medium bodied. Nice bitterness. Tropical fruit and grapefruit lingers with light earthiness.

On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours light copper with a decent off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a mellow caramel malt flavor with a nice hoppy bitter finish. Very well-crafted.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at Beer Revolution. This was a really nice surprise. It pours a beautiful golden color with a very rich, creamy white head. The aroma is nicely fresh hoppy with grass and some tropical fruit with a hint of caramel malt. The flavor is nicely balanced yet hop forward for a lower alcohol IPA. I picked up grass, canteloupe, tropical fruit, and just a hint of caramel sweetness. It had a nice bitter finish. This reminded me of Firestone Pale 31, only with a tad more malt balance. Iím impressed.

This beer should be a perfect 5, but itís hard to give the nuts to a beer with only 5.2%. These guys have done an outstanding job making an approachable IPA. KUDOS

On tap @ Mohawk Bend in LA. A nice gold color with a white head and some lacing. It smells like a fresh orange and has a nice hop and citrus flavor. The body is smooth and not very bitter. A very drinkable IPA.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Pours a dark amber with a hazy body and a decent off white head.
Aroma: Citrus piney hop bouquet. A little spicy too.
Taste. Piney grapefruit melange. Spicy. Sweet caramel like malt holding it together.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with average carbonation.
Overall: This beer is exactly as advertised: a drinkable California hoppy ale. Itís very balanced, and has just the right amount of malt for those scared of something like Stone Ruination. Good gateway craft.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 31, 2012 had this again at Tonyís Darts Away and theyíve really improved it. Lots of nice fruit coming form the hops and a lean and slightly toasty malt profile. Plenty of body and good hop feel in the mouth. Not the most distinct IPA, but at 5.2% it really nails your hop craving and comes in a more easily drinkable package.

Tap at the brewery. Rating #4. Real nice IPA, dark amber/orange color and very unfiltered. Piney aroma with a little malt sweetness. Easy to drink, but it still had a nice hop punch that kept me craving more. Nicely done. (1947)

Thick lasting froth on dark amber. Restrained hops take a little time to find but then they hold on. Very malty. Lots of caramel mixed with woody hops. Tastes like a hop chewy hop cookie with a dusty hop aftertaste. 747414
