Golden Road has a gem of a West Coast IPA here. It's crisp, full of aroma and flavor and a great treat on a Sunny So Cal Saturday Afternoon.

Pours a honey orange color with a 1 finger head. Aroma is amazing.. Pineapple/orange/guava/peach/mango, pine needles. As it warms more dank hop scents come forward. Here’s where it goes wrong for me.. The taste is very bitter with no fruitiness whatsoever, malty, unbalanced.. With so many great DIPAs out there I feel that this one misses the mark. I will not buy this again.

Poured from the can. Nice yellowish orange with white head. Fresh cut grass in the front. Huge tropical/tangerine in the middle. Left is a dry boozey bitterness. Overall a decent 8% from LA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. Golden amber with a large white head. Aroma of grapefruit, tinned mandarins and peaches, pineapple, pine. Creamy, medium bodied. Sweet with some caramel and more convincing fruit than suggested by a sniff. Some tropical, lots of peach and citrus. Bitterness is firm and a little spicy. Liked the balance.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A steady pour into my Sierra Nevada IPA produces an almost two-finger thick, pale tan colored head. The beer is a straw / pale-amber color that shows a lightly hazed, gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of grapefruit zest, spruce tips, a slight bit of menthol, some light pine, juicy guava notes, floral lychee, and lots of candied tangelo zest. As the beer warms up an herbal dank character starts to become more noticeable; peppery, hemp-like, with an almost cheesy, skunky dankness that lingers a bit.
The beer has a solid bitterness to it and lots of fruity, citrus and tropical notes. There is a peppery spicy character here as well as a spicy pine like character that balances out the fruit notes that contributes flavors of ripe tangelo zest, tangerine, guava, and floral citrus juice. The body is quite light for a beer of this strength, though it has a touch of viscosity to it that keeps this from seeming overly thin.
Definitely a nice IPA, or Double IPA I suppose, it drinks light and excessively hoppy just like a good IPA should be.
