This beer is a balanced showcase of the majestic hop specie, in Latin, Humulus Lupulus, which translates “Wolf Among Weeds”. It’s our celebration of California’s enthusiasm for hop-forward IPAs. At 8%, Wolf will sneak up on you from behind the robust citrus and dank earthy hop notes mirrored in its aroma and flavour profile.

Relatively mild, malty double IPA. Hops are mostly citrus, but quite a bit more restrained than I would prefer. Solid mouthfeel, otherwise just OK.

16oz. can. Bright golden straw color with a brilliant white head and ring of lace. Upfront dank oily hop nose of tropics and citrus in equal balance. What really makes this good is how well the flavors, malts and bitterness blend. Grapefruit citrus, tropical, honey, complex. Good palate. Finishes with some alcohol burn. Will seek and buy more.

16 oz can.
Slightly hazy pale golden, two finger, sticky, lasting, pale white head.
Aroma is dank and citrusy, maybe a little tropical notes.
Flavor is similar to the aroma, floral, citrus, tiny bit of pine, and a soft honey sweetness. Nicely balanced.

Draft. Goldenrod in hue with the softest of hazes. The head is a cotton blanket, swaddling the liquid below with stick white foam. Pungent, smell-it-from-a-foot-away hop aroma. I get dank, sticky weed, lime peel, lemongrass, white grapefruit, onion, garlic and bread crust. The flavor adds a scoop of honey to this bouquet, balancing the intense hop character. It almost seems sweet up front, in fact. Soft tropical notes are added to the mix before the finish, where mild bitterness grips the tongue with orange peel fingers. The body is a creamy medium; the carbonation is soft and pleasant. Very tasty DIPA.

On tap at Zeitgeist. Knock-your-socks-off juicy citrus hop aroma. Very well-balanced fruity resin and pine flavour. Slightly flat. Great.

From a tall can. Pours hazy bright gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like lemon, grapefruit, caramel, smooth booze, floral and citrus hops. Medium body low/medium carbonation. Smells like caramel, smooth booze, grapefruit, lemon, floral and spicy hops.

On tap at Sprenger’s, Santa Rosa. Pours pale yellow with a small head. Aroma is tropical fruits, and very dank hops. Flavor is similar. Sweet malts, tropical fruits. Pretty nice actually. Bitter finish, but not over the top.

Light yellow, strong hoppy aroma. To me, not terribly well balanced, as there’s barely any detectable maltiness. Bitterness from the hops really lingers.

8 mar 2015, tap. Yellow, clear, no bubbles. Nose is pink grapefruit. Mostly sweet and slightly bitter. Thin/med body and mildly fizzy. Sweet, rock candy, grapefruit citrus, some grassy bitterness. Nice.
