COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How best to describe the Black Emperor? Black Pilsner? American Black Lager? Pseudo Schwarz? Whatever it is, its brewed with malt from New Zealand, Germany and England, hops from America and yeast from Germany. Dark, bitter and thirst quenching

Rigger from tap at Hashigo Zake. Pours a black/brown held to the light with a great tan head - great for a schwarz. Aroma has heaps on NZ hop goodness which works well with the dark chocolate of the malt.
In the mouth the body of the beer is outstanding. Full and rich, with nice roast and significant hops. This could be a cascadian dark ale if I didn’t know otherwise. My favourite Golden ticket release yet!

Tap at Beervana 2011. Black pour with a small, creamy head. Lots of heavy roasted malts and chocolate on the nose. Comes through the same in the taste. Decent quaffer

Somehow, I managed to not have rated this beer. It’s a lovely "black pilsner". Spicy and citrussy hops, a firm bitterness, and a charred, smoky, slightly sweet malt profile make for an interesting and very drinkable beer.

Black with chestnut hues. Light roma, a little dark malts and hop warmth. Reasonable balanced with nice malt profile that dark beer fans should find a liking to. Gets a bit zingy, then the lttr stages is some tight hop dryness and more char notes to finish. Good drinker

Black with a creamy head... first thing you pick up on the aroma is crisp green pine and citrus hops then dark coffee malt... YUM These follow though on the palate with an extremely clean finish due to the lager yeast used.
