10/11/11/11/8/11

Idiosynkrasie (3847) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 4, 2014
500ml bottle [owed to Bartlebier’s kind haulage all the way down to FdB]. Murky, yellow-ish golden colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, dirty white head. Grassy hoppy aroma with a, positively described, lemon touch, burnt hay in pejorative façon, a grainy touch accompanied by protein reminiscences that wouldn’t have escaped a filtering process. Taste is minimally sourish, citric hoppy, slightly protein-sulphuric, ligated in an oily, if not rancid blubber partition, whereupon a hay skilly forms the counterpart of a spluttering choreography. Meh.

bartlebier (1760) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - MAY 19, 2014
50cl fliptop fresh from source. So maybe "extraherbes helles Lagerbier" does not immediately translate to "Double Imperial Lager", as that leads one to expect a 7%+ amply hopped Imperial Lager...Pours a brackish beige-green with eggy foam. Diluted aromas of faint caramels, protein, green cantelope peel, strawberry. Taste is a lagery mix of all of these, ash/burnt notes, herbal components, experimental DE hops, bravely including the wistful Polaris, integrated within an ale-oily palate. Reminiscent in style of Kehrwieder’s Prototyp PA/lager crossover, taken to a wilder experimental level.
