A Northwest style IPA with a rich balanced malt profile with Centennial and Cascade bittering hops backed by whole flower Kent and Cascade aromatic dry hops. Definately no over bitter.

Draft at the brewpub as Chehalem Mountain IPA. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty and citrusy. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of grass from the hops, leading to a dry bitter finish where the grass sticks on the tongue.

Bottle: pours a yellow-orange with thick white head. Heavy pine aroma, some caramel malt. Flavor is extremely malty, caramel, lacking bitterness to totally round it out as a strong example for an IPA.

Judging by the previous comments I must have got a good bottle of this beer, but it was a fine IPA. Not wildly off the charts, but perfectly drinkable. Pour was cloudy and rich copper-orange, a very respectable color for the style, though the head was thin with little retention. Aroma was floral with sweet mash and caramel, but had a slightly metallic end that didn’t do much for it. Flavor has a bold Northwest hop presence that lingers, though it lacks some sweetness or spiciness that better balancing of aroma hops could provide. Body is reasonably full. Again, a perfectly respectable offering based on the bomber I had.

The aroma on this one was faint with some citrus and some grassy notes. This poured a copper color with a white head. The flavor was somewhat bitter with some lemons and caramel showing through. This wasnt bad but pretty boring.

Pours a transparent copper orange with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly toasted grainy malts and some earthy grassy hops. Starts with a mild caramel malty sweetness and some earthy bittering hops. Finishes drier, earthy and bittersweet. For a west-coast IPA, I’d expect a much bigger fresher hoppy presence.

Pours a light yellow color that is slightly cloudy – with a small head and below average lacing and very under carbonated. Light smells of hops that is lacking in aroma. First taste is extremely light not just for an IPA but for a pale ale as well. Not worth your time or money as this beer is lacking flavor.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2008 Poured hazy amber color from a bomber, minimal head good lacing. Aroma was a bit of fruity hops. Flavor is bitter citrus hops with a fair amount of malt backing. Not as crisp as I expect of an IPA. Very smooth though. Could be a session brew. Will try on tap in the future. This beer is hard to find even in Oregon where it is brewed. I have to admit I’ve had APA’s that had more hops. Nice mild IPA.
