2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours an opaque with dark brown edges and a frothy dark tan head. Aroma of cherry tartness and some lightly roasted malts. Body starts light and fizzy with a touch of sweet dark caramel before sourness takes over toward a warming slightly acidic finish. Seems like it would be a nice porter were it not as acidic.

22 oz. bottle shared with Padrefan98. Nice chocolate aromas off this almost black pour with no head. No head due to a very small amount of carbonation. Flavors were some roastiness with a strange bitterness on the finish. Average...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
(Bottle) Dark in color, taste is more similar to a stout than a porter. Lacked any distinguishing flavor characteristics, and in fact, the lingering taste wasn’t that great. But I like Golden Valley, and appreciate their effort.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle from Degarth - Pours dark brown with a short offwhite head that fades pretty quick. Aromas of coffee, roasted malts, and some chocolate. Flavor is light coffee, chocolate and roast as well as some raisin. Palate is on the watery side with a bit much carbonation for me.

2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bomber from Liquid Solutions. The aroma is subdued, but smells good with some lightly roasted malt, sweet chocolate and creamed coffee. Pours dark brown, but settles black with a tight pink sized head that is bubbly, mocha colored and diminishing.
Water fore is tart and almost spritzy. Very limp and lactic with not even a good concentration of what flavors are present and a glaring lack of traditional roast, chocolate, coffee, burnt flavors or even some of the less common raisin, molasses flavors. This might be slightly infected, but regardless I highly doubt it would be very good under optimal conditions.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle, via Dubbercody. Pours a very dark brown clear body under a one finger tight bubbled brown head that had some decent retention. Aroma is very chocolaty with a light roasted malt component. Moderate hoppiness and a touch of coffee. Flavor is more roasty than chocolaty and a little thin. There’s also a light lactic tinge on the finish with moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly grainy in texture with moderate fizzy carbonation. Finishes lightly dry. Overall, this was pretty decent but the roastiness could be toned down a little to let the chocolate shine through more.

Bottle, Liquid Solutions. Pours very dark in color, with virtually no head. Sweet chocolate aroma with a bit of maltiness. Smoothe flavor of roasted malt. Quite a bit of roasted coffee bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dundee Porter pours deep dark brown with a miniscule light brown head that’s gone in moments.
The initial aromas are of roasted coffee beans and tar. There’s no indication of the aroma hops at this point. Later, some chocolate creme aspects appear in the nose.
However, the hops are prominent in the flavor. To the point the malts almost take a back seat. The bitterness is managed well, and I’d describe the mixing of the roasted malts with the hop flavoring as "burnt hop" flavor.
On the palate the beer is smooth and not heavy. The finish briefly offers bittersweet chocolate and then is gone.
I’m not sure what to think here. This beer has the odd characteristic that the hops become more pronounced throughout the bottle. Much better than others from this brewer.
